That's just so you filthy danes can't make lego copies of it. Jokes asie tho, it does have a fuckhuge magazine and can (IIRC) use different ammunition types which all in all does give you a advantage.
Then again, what do I know? I seem to recall it never getting issued to our dudes so either way it doesn't really matter.
The thing is mostly interesting because it claims to offer more firepower from that little thing and tiny oddball round that I can't be arsed to read up on, but they claim it's better than 5.56 at everything because of swede-magics.
No third-party testing has been done confirming this.
Well according to wiki it's got some pretty impressive balistics. Out of a 12" Barrel it chucks a 31gr AP at around 3,000 fps. That's putting it in .22 hornet territory in terms of bullet weight and velocity. In any event it beats out 5.7 and 4.6 ballistically in terms of velocity and bullet weight, since the 6.5x25 can use bullets around the 30gr range all the way up to 120gr range.
I remember hearing a story about the opposite happening to some GIs during WW2. They pulled the pins out of some bazooka rounds, expecting that they would be needed. When the need never materialized, they wanted to put this pins back in, but because they'd tossed them in the grass, they had to sweep around looking for them while gingerly holding the rounds at arms length.
Its Band of Brothers, a guy pulls out the pins on one or two grenades, at night time.

I remember reading some place that this was meant to traverse muddy terrain or make it river/waterborne.
I'm pretty sure that's for rolling over minefields.

Captured guns from reddit:

[t]https://i.imgur.com/5jhFBBL.jpg[/t]
Here are a few captured weapons from my trip to Afghanistan in 2010. The guns with rags in the barrel were buried in a plowed field. It's common practice to bury weapons in Afghanistan, and typically a portion of a rag or strap is left near the surface to facilitate easy recovery.
From top to bottom:
Soviet AK-47 in 7.62x39mm. While the AKM is a lot more prevalent in terms of worldwide circulation we almost always found older AK-47s.This particular one has obviously seen a lot of harsh use/storage. As you can see, it has been pimped out with green tape likely needed to keep the handguards together on the gun.
Lee enfield No.4Mk1 in .303 British. I was very intrigued to find this rifle since I owned one at the time. This gun was a Savage rifle, and the "U.S. Property" stamping had been ground off. This was a WWII Lend-Lease rifle, though I forgot the year of manufacture. It has been bedazzled slightly on the forestock and green-taped at the grip, resulting in +2 accuracy and -1 concealability. I believe this particular rifle was brought back with the Battalion to display in the Battalion lounge.
The next gun is an obomination before God. As I recall it had no markings other than "Belgium Steel" on the barrel. The whole thing felt ready to fall apart at any moment. It is of course a simple single-shot 12 gauge with a rudimentary folding stock, likely Chinese or Pakistani. These guns are actually fairly common in Afghanistan for non-nefarious uses. This gun may not have ever been intended to cause harm to coalition forces, as it was not buried with the other weapons and was instead out in plain sight.
The handgun is a Firestar model F "Starlet" in .22lr. This one was interesting in that it appeared to be intended for sale in the United States, with english stampings and Stoeger import marks if memory serves. No idea how it came to be found here. A .22lr pistol if of pretty limited utility in a gun fight, but could be used in murder and intimidation type actions against Afghan civilians.
Bottom rifle is again another Soviet AK-47, but in much better condition than the one at top.
Other captured weapons (not pictured) were more AK-47s with stocks removed, a P14 Enfield, and at one point we unearthed hundreds of feet of det-cord and dozens of remote receivers/transmitters obviously from China. These are used to make remote-detonated explosives.
Either that or a CETME
I'm glad I wasn't around at the time. I'd probably still be in prison for trying to talk my way through the gate with one of Saddam's pal's Golden AKs in my backpack.

Minecrushing or amphibious assault
According to the Pinterest entry, it was a prototype mine crushing tank but ditched because of weight
Just saw this and thought it was pretty cool. The Russian/Soviet PPD40.

I'm just curious. What are the benefits and use of these two types of weapon stocks?

And is one better than the other?
One folds, one doesn't.
Folding stocks are useful for people who would need to use their guns in tight quarters, like vehicle crews, paratroopers, and mechanized infantry.
Besides that, I don't think there's really any difference besides maybe weight. Solid stocks are cheaper to manufacture since they involve less parts, so I'd guess that's the reason they don't just put folding stocks on everything.

I remember reading somewhere folding stocks have less recoil damping abilities. Was wondering if that's true.
If the stock locks it should be no different than a regular solid stock. Although of course if the stock is folded, you can't brace against it.

The weight difference might make the recoil a little more noticable, though I'd imagine the design of stock also makes a difference. The FAL style folding stocks look pretty rigid to me, but then you get things like the AKS/AKMS underfolding stocks. I'd imagine those get somewhat wobbly when they're worn out.
The AMD-65 is cool. I also ordered one for myself the other day ;) [sp]Deac unfortunatley, but cool nonetheless[/sp]

I love the AMD-65. I've considered buying a deact one myself on multiple occasions, but the new spec ones are shittier than airsoft and old specs cost far too much for a gun that doesn't do anything.
If I can find one with at least a moving selector and trigger for cheap then I'll probably pick one up, but I'm not paying 300 quid for a deact with the trigger and selector welded solid. For that price I could buy an airsoft one that at least has some practical value.
And on top of that you get the concerns that everyone's having over new deact regulations supposedly coming in thanks to the EU that'll make all deacts need to be completely welded up. Even the old specs, which is why a lot of people with big deact collections are considering selling up and not bothering anymore.
Can you guys buy deactivated guns without a permit over there? I'm pretty sure here you need a specific category of weapon license to get anything that can be considered a replica :v:
As long as you're over 18, yeah.
Oddly you need a 'defence' (airsofter, re-enactor, etc) to purchase airsoft guns and blank firing guns since they class as realistic imitation firearms (RIFs), but it seems like you can buy deactivated firearms without anything like that or any kind of proof that you're not going to hold up a post office with one.
Here's the only deact I'll ever own.

I would love to buy all kinds of deactivated guns you cant get here, but they are quite expensive

You don't here in Queensland depending on what it's a replica of, can't speak for other states.
"A replica weapon is a reasonable facsimile or copy of a weapon, even if it is not capable of discharging a projectile or substance, or a Category A, B or C weapon that has been rendered permanently inoperable or a hand grenade that is inert.
For Category A, B, C and H non-firing replica weapons no weapons licence is required.
Restrictions apply to other categories of non-firing replicas. Inquiries should be made with Weapons Licensing prior to purchasing any non-firing replicas."
https://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/weaponsLicensing/licenceApplication/weapons/replicas.htm
Still makes no fucking sense, with that setup a replica/deact Remington 870 with a standard magazine tube would be a-ok, but a replica/deact Remington 870 with an extended magazine tube would require police permission because being a replica of something that held more than 5 rounds makes it Category D.
