Good Luck carrying that around and making it actually practical. [editline]18th March 2016[/editline] Also, the engravings on Bore Shotguns are so damn pretty. 4,12 and 20 Respectively. 4 bore for when you really do not like something
I always thought that system was weird, smaller numbers are bigger? Isn't is something like how many balls you can make out of a pound of lead or something?
I always thought that system was weird, smaller numbers are bigger? Isn't is something like how many balls you can make out of a pound of lead or something?
All firearms units are set by some arbitrary standard, like pistol vs rifle calibers, navil cannons in weight vs landguns in bore, grain vs dram, someone came up with a way to express this quality and it sort of stuck
Makes me wonder if anyone has made a standardized system for firearm measurement.
Makes me wonder if anyone has made a standardized system for firearm measurement.
it's called millimeters
it's called millimeters
How would you refer to 12 gauge in millimeters? The diameter of the shot?
How would you refer to 12 gauge in millimeters? The diameter of the shot?
The diameter of the barrel seems like a good way to do it.
The diameter of the barrel seems like a good way to do it.
Rifled or smoothbore? Plus cartridge headspace makes things more complicated like .308 and 7.62 are not nescarily the same cartridges
yeah. 12 gauge means you can cast 12 identical round balls out of one pound of lead. pretty stupid number imo.. that's sadly deactivated. dirt cheap however, so i was going to get one like it this week, but the problem is that they're deactivated in such a shitty way- the trigger group is welded shut so you can't even cock and dry fire the thing, and much less disassemble the thing. in addition, the bolt head is removed so it doesn't even lock into battery, pulling and letting go of the bolt will just make the bolt carrier slam against the trunnion. AND the bipod is missing, so those money hungry j- germans operating the website (zib militaria) can sell it for another 79€..
since when do they deactivate them in such a shitty way? i have my pps43 where everything is intact except from the firing pin and barrel bores
Could be worse. There's new specifications supposedly coming for deacts in the UK in April. Everything has to be welded completely solid. Even the magazine. Granted, it's for any guns deactivated AFTER april, but there's talk that any deacts sold after that will need to be updated to current spec. Count yourself lucky that you can even pull the trigger. god damn it prusse you edited your post just as I was writing this
In the UK, we currently have 'old spec' and 'new spec' Old spec (before the 90s, I believe) assault rifles and SMGs had welded up barrels and the bolt heads are rendered useless (lugs/face ground down and firing pin holes welded) New spec assault rifles and SMGs have the bolts welded in place, but they don't always weld up the trigger group/selector. It's more common that they're just welded solid, but I have seen a lot with moving triggers and selectors. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference between new and old spec when it comes to bolt-action rifles, pistols, LMGs and MGs. All the deactivated LMGs I've seen have had moving bolts and working triggers/selectors, pistols have welded barrels but they can be cycled and dry fired, revolvers have welded barrels and blocked chambers, and bolt action rifles (like my Type 53) have working actions, just welded up barrels and cut/ground bolt heads. The new EU specifications are bullshit. I was going to buy another deact, but it just seems kind of a waste now.
and from next week onwards, deactivated guns in germany are gonna be solid chunks of steel, once they start welding dust covers stuck, triggers, magazines into the magwell etc
I actually just had a thought regarding this. I've seen plenty of deactivated AUGs, and I'm pretty certain that you can't weld bakelite to metal, so how the fuck are they planning on welding plastic mags into magwells? None of what I've heard about the new deactivation specs seems to make any sense, nor does it seem like the people in charge know what they're doing.
Whilst we're on the topic of deacts, here's my two. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9988278/deacgats.jpg[/t] Stevens 67E and Chinese Type 53. Would've liked to have more, but I'll just stick with these and my airsoft guns.
It cycles and dry fires. Trigger troup is fine as far as I can tell, but the barrel is welded up and welded onto the reciever so you can't remove the bolt. The mag tube is crimped and there's a massive metal pin blocking both the barrel and magtube.
No idea, but it's a shame. At least I can load the magazine of my nugget, even if I can't chamber anything. The clips I have are terrible.
Disabled guns, such a sad sight.
I'd buy real guns if this country wasn't so shit with gun laws. All I want to do is shoot actual rifles and do 3 gun matches, fun stuff like that. I know if you try hard enough and really want to, you can work your way up the firearms ladder and shoot anti-materiel rifles here in the UK, but I don't care. All I want is an AR-15 and a pistol that isn't as long as my entire arm because of length restrictions.
Aren't there some strange laws on the books in the UK where you can't movie and fire at the same time or something like that? There's that EnglishShooting youtube channel that puts up some stuff every now and again and I remember they were using some .22 AR to do some sort of practical shooting thing... without moving. Was really weird, I think the guy mentioned it before. At the least, I can appreciate the dedication it takes to be active in the gun community in Europe, I guess.

When employed as a hand grenade, it functions with a simple 3-5 second time delay fuze before detonating. The munition’s functioning as a mine is similar to that of the US M86 Pursuit Deterrent Munition (PDM) or the Russian POM-2 scatterable AP mine. The munition is (ideally) emplaced in an upright position by hand or thrown. After a 60 to 120 second delay, the five perforated portions of the outer casing are forced downwards, stabilising the body and righting the munition if thrown. The mine then deploys four 10 metre-long tripwires; these function the mine when disturbed. The MIB has a 3-100 hour variable self-destruct timer, as well as a chemical fail-safe which renders the mine inert after no more than 120 days. This is believed to be the first documented instance of the capture of this type of munition by a non-state armed group.
http://armamentresearch.com/russian-mib-type-multi-function-munition-captured-by-is-in-syria/ Also the Thermal scope on his rifle is pretty fancy

[editline]19th March 2016[/editline] Speaking of clay target shooting, shot one of these at the club today [t]http://0101.nccdn.net/1_5/1d8/000/0b3/MX8.png[/t] :ok: Light as hell and performs amazingly. One I shot had a custom stock (like every other clay shooter's gun that has some respect for themselves) and since it wasn't mine didn't go about adjusting it to my fit. Finished the day with a very sore cheekbone.
I shoot clays. It is pretty fun, and it's one of the easiest gun related things you can get into here. I'm not in a position to own a shotgun of my own (living arrangements don't allow for a safe), but my brother bought a Remington 1100 Trap just for me to use when we go shooting. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9988278/1100_2.jpg[/t] It took a lot of tweaking before it worked consistently and the gas rings are going a bit rusty, but it's pretty fun to shoot. This picture's a little outdated, recently we replaced the stock with a polymer one that had a lower comb and a matching handguard. It's a shame to do away with such pretty wood, but it looks pretty great with the polymer furniture as well.
