To think the universe has grown even more since that image was rendered. Wow!

Well, shit.
We dont know that, could be smaller or even the same.
We do know that though. Redshift.

I think Quasars are pretty cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasar
Wow the sound of Saturn is creepy. If they put that ambience in Dead Space, i'd be shitting my pants.

Space is beautiful and scary at the same time Spore came to mind
Holy shit, the one for Earth is awesome. The others sound so haphazard and random, whereas Earth's sounds almost orchestral
It sounds like some sort of glimmering crystal. Weird shit indeed. (but awesome! (and scary))

Try billions of galaxies and trillions (if not quadrillions) of stars.
Wow, I never knew the true scale of the universe, I thought it was more like just that one last zoomed in picture of the universal web.
1.5% of the entire part of the universe we can "observe"; there are places we can't observe because they are too far away or maybe are in a different dimension. Basically, we are not able to research/view/observe/whatever the whole entire universe because of the limitations I said, such as distance.
I'm pretty sure we can see until it all turns to background radiation.
I'm pretty sure we can see until it all turns to background radiation.
Agreed. Our only limitation is the speed of light. Light that's further afield hasn't reached us yet, so we can't see it. It gradually just goes dimmer. It can be seen in the Hubble Deep Field.
I have a really ignorant sister. She's one of those Religious nuts who think we're the only intelligent life and that trying to learn beyond our solar system and God is evil and a waste of money.
This reminds me, aren't we supposed to go to Mars by 2012?
I have a really ignorant sister. She's one of those Religious nuts who think we're the only intelligent life and that trying to learn beyond our solar system and God is evil and a waste of money.
Bash her face in with a microscope.
Bash her face in with a microscope.
Why not just Blind her with Science!
Why not just Blind her with Science!
Because she thinks things like Evolution, the LHC, and anything that proves religion is as accurate as Beowulf is evil.
This reminds me, aren't we supposed to go to Mars by 2012?
NASA hopes to start colonizing Mars in 2030 so we might see a colonized Mars in our lifetime(or atleast see the first human to step on Mars).
Why not just Blind her with Science!
[editline]11:26PM[/editline]
Because she thinks things like Evolution, the LHC, and anything that proves religion is as accurate as Beowulf is evil.
Maybe she would see better if you applied that microscope as advised. I'm implying that you jam a microscope into her eye socket. Do it.
