and thus, mankind did look upon the heavens and he saw not but god and not but salvation but the vast emptiness found only within the confines of reality
Woah...
space is scawy
Lots of exoplanets discovered recently - 32! http://www.centauri-dreams.org/?p=9883
That weblike structure is, I believe, known as the universal web, or universal net. It's a gargantuan chain of celestial bodies that fill our Universe. There are what are known as "voids". Voids are the empty spaces between the strings of the web, and man, are these things EMPTY. They aren't empty in the sense that there's a couple stray asteroids or ice bits floating by. They are 100% devoid of any form of matter, and don't even have any form of radiation passing through them. It is believed that these voids contain dark matter, that mysteriously elusive particle that quantum physicists fap over.
It doesn't really matter if there's any other lifeform out there. We won't get to them anyways. Atleast not in the next few thousands of years.

I can see my house from there!

Or maybe not and we just draw similar patterns from things we have experienced in the world, even though they're entirely unrelated.
I hope they'll find the crew of Destiny soon.
Added impact crater map.

Can anyone explain to me what mpc stands for? If it consists of over a million lightyears, then...... the universe fucking rocks.
Sometimes it feels like our heads can explode from pondering space too much in one sitting without writing anything down. It is so magnificent and ominous. Come, chant with me my brothers. Ominous, I am in us. Ominous, I am in us. Ominous, I am in us. Ominous, I am in us. Maybe we have a universe in OUR brains....
Can anyone explain to me what mpc stands for? If it consists of over a million lightyears, then...... the universe fucking rocks.
I believe it means "Million ParseCs"
Interesting. We're self-important particles in God's brain.
This is one of the most profound images I've ever seen.
how people think aliens don't exist or we are the only intelligent race is beyond me [editline]06:49PM[/editline] we're a type 0 civilization :saddowns:
there HAS to be another life form out there somewhere
Why one lifeform? What about billions? Pretends to post Dr Evil without getting banned.
Reminds me of the recent horizon programs on infinity and the universe.
A+ thread. Did I imagine it or did people find evidence that there WAS microbial life on Mars at some point?
Right.
"One parsec is defined to be the distance from Earth to a star." Lol, no it isn't.
its the distance from the earth to the sun BUT THEN IT WOULD CHANGE
I wonder if they'll find the Destiny ship floating around, Dr Rush must be still in that planet we don't know about.
A+ thread. Did I imagine it or did people find evidence that there WAS microbial life on Mars at some point?
They found things that looked like microbes.
25 TERABYTES? Holy fuck
its the distance from the earth to the sun BUT THEN IT WOULD CHANGE
You're thinking of AU's.
Five seconds in Wikipedia: One parsec = 3.27 light years
it's making me feel tiny more than porn does.
614,000 hours Oh god help it's ticking. :saddowns:
I don't want to sound like a religious nut, but maybe god DID create the universe? People do say that there has to probably be a more intelligent being to create the universe. Now for scientific replies bringing me down. :patriot:
