Kismesissitude, marked by a spade <3< is a relationship based on hate, where the desire to mate is involved. The early relationship between Tavros and Vriska can be likened to kismessitude.
How does that work?

I guess it's something like two way rape.

It's probably instinctual. The human desire to seek a mate is not something that is inspired by logic. It's probably something similar to human hate-love, like in Hey Arnold, where Helga liked Arnold secretly but openly mocked him.
Similar, but probably not accurate. Like I said, it's all driven by instinct.

Trolls are naturally hateful and spiteful towards one another. Even their matespritship, supposedly the closest to typical human romance, is relatively spiteful and could be more closely considered a potent rivalry. Besides that, it's said that matesprits can easily become kismesi and vice versa.
I was probably the only person who found the explanation on troll romance really interesting.
Oh yeah, and you might as well know that trolls don't have a sense of sexuality. Thus you can have mating pairs of any combination of genders, and thus romance between them.
Also, calling it now that Vriska blows up Aradia somehow as disproportionate revenge for Equius screwing up her Nick Cage poster.

No, I love that part.
I found it confusingly interesting.
I found Homestuck while on holiday, so I got to contemplate that bit.
I didn't read it the second time over though.
I started reading Homestuck last summer.
I realized how good it was in retrospect. Once I caught up it kind of hit me all at once how incredible this comic really is.
Just noticed that AH said the Problem Sleuth Book 2 should be out soon.
I still need to buy the first one.

I don't think this is 100% true. Nepeta is not spiteful towards anyone. Tavros is not spiteful towards anyone, even the woman making viscous moves towards kismessitude towards him. Kanaya rarely spites anyone, unless they attack first. Feferi is so friendly it exceeds all unitary measurements for friendliness.
Their matespritship is probably in no way different from human romance. It can vary, some couples being kind and doting, with others being a little more sarcastic towards one another.
Most of the troll 'romances' exist in the form of human social patterns. Moirailship seems like a specific form of friendship that humans are perfectly capable of carrying out. I couldn't think of any on hand because I just fucked my mind over with trig homework, but you get the idea.
I know myself that I've 'mediated' between feuding individuals.
Kismesitude is the only real relationship that doesn't exist in human society. Some things are certainly similar (ie. the HelgaxArnold relationship in Hey Arnold), but that seems more similar to the kismesis/matesprit combination, like the one Equius and Aradia share.
why do you know so much about this

Incoming boxes, but I just don't get these comics, I read like a good 200 pages of it and didn't get it at all.

Read 2000 pages of it. Then it will make sense. And you will love it.
I recall Hussie saying something about Moirallegiance being more than just "eternal soul bros" or whatever. It's actually considered romance, as are the hate quadrants.
Tavros' niceness was considered to be unusual by the other trolls. Nepeta and Kanaya both have violent streaks, with their hunting and liberal chainsawing, respectively. Feferi hasn't really had enough character development for me to make an argument on her.
Also, Helga from Hey Arnold was a case of reaction formation.
