In a way, my theory was correct.
The theory I never told anyone about since I couldn't really think up a way to have it make much sense.
I thought that the trolls would end up creating the children in a way. And they did, by creating their universe.
Well now no one can say that the troll arc wasn't important to the main story :v:

I highly doubt that's what it was, considering they were prevented from ever getting their reward because of the scratch.
Seems more likely that, in keeping with the stable time loops, they whipped up a universe they had to whip up in order to complete the loop. How is an entirely different affair. Not that it's not possible, it just seems unlikely considering Karkat never opened the door.
