still, terezi and karkat are the first trolls we're introduced to in Homestuck as a whole, I at least acknowledge them as the original and most important trolls

I'd agree. They've been transparently set up and almost promoted (cover treatment on the Alternia album, anyone?) as the primary characters of this arc.

The rich cast makes it harder for some to pick up on, though, and I can fully respect arguments to the contrary.
