It's because of how long it's been since we have seen her. This is the first conversation that Rose has had in four months or so, and it's her telling everything we've recently learned she already knew. It frustrates you to see that all this stuff you just learned, and it's such a great discovery, is shot down in three seconds.

This does bring up an interesting question now. What happens when the Kids session is over? Do they just die with it? I mean, they don't advance into the the universe they created if they don't create one.
I think that kids have to to break stuff to ultimately create the rift, team up with trolls, and stop Lord English from propagating.
Also, as I stated before, I think that Jack is going to be in the outcome a positive character. They have to fuck shit up, and that's all he was doing so far. His intermission alter ego was also directly aimed against Lord English. I think that he was let loose to help them, even if he doesn't know it himself.
About who dies ~ I think that if somebody dies, it will be the whole group - Kids/Trolls/Guardians... Guardians seems like the most possible group to me, as one of them (grandpa) is already dead.
Jack's an antagonist (or whichever was the "bad guy").

Jack is clearly a special case. While the kings and queens abide by certain rules and let the battle play out with certain order and discipline, Jack is more aggressive and ambitious, and more dangerous for that reason.

Homestuck has already shown that it doesn't use classical definition of "good" and "bad". Your whole planet is destroyed even just to get into the game. What was doomed and gone rises again to help you (kernel sprites). The ultimate reckoning which is bound to kill the home planet is used to seed the players themselves, and also to seed life destroyed planet again.
Somehow I imagine that the pail kicked over the edge will play a huge part in alchemizing an important item.
On another note, what happens if they [i]do[/i] manage to glitch the game enough to defeat Lord English or accomplish whatever goal they have? The best scenario is that they are left in a finished session (or a null on but I forget how that works) without any way of leaving. They'd have to live in the Incipisphere forever.

I am sure Andrew has some epic, hardly predictable ending prepared for us. The obvious happy one would be that Kids unite with Trolls and move back to the Kids universe, but I doubt this is it.
