I meant at the very beginning when every single page was a high quality flash and it took days for each update and it generally ruined the feeling of the thing.

ah yeah, that was more of an experiment. i will agree with you there, overloading on the flash pages sort of makes the good ones feel less important
Still, the flashes are my favorites.
I guess it's kind of like a cherry on top of a sundae. It's the best part, but if you had just a bowl of cherries, they don't taste as good.

I find it somewhat interesting that you can, with no explanation, show someone Jack: Ascend and WV: Rise Up and they will normally understand almost perfectly what is going on and feel either freaked (Ascend) or invested in the plight of WV (Rise Up.)
Independent of the series having worth as a story, the animations alone manage to be fairly powerful without despite their inherent simplicity.
