If you are looking to make music then you are not looking to take engineering. Being an audio engineer or producer means you work for the artist that is paying you. Even a producer who generally gets a lot of freedom making creative decisions is still just the guy who is turning the artist's vision into a reality.
I'll still need the engineer and producing classes so i know how to work all the equipment.
since when do i have to be once thing? being a guru, tech and/or producer doesn't supersede my goal of releasing some songs off my most favorite label of all time.
didn't i make it clear that im fine with not expressing myself most of the time? just as long as im working on music and am a valuable part of the machine (that works the way it's supposed to). isn't it obvious i'm going to have some sort of career if this works out? it's all shit i do on the path up to my main goal.
and if i ever achieve that goal i'll either become a ninja tune artist or go back to doing whatever i enjoyed at that point in time in the industry if i can't sign on officially.
god this fucking post is a bunch of drug induced psychobabble. sorry.

I'm just trying to make it clear to you that producing, recording, mixing, and mastering music is far different than making music. If you go into something like audio production then I want to make sure you know what you're getting into because it's a big decision and a lot of money(especially if you do AIS).
Berklee
I live pretty near Berklee, and I must say that it's an incredible place. You should definitely apply, consider it your reach school. Even if you have no chance in hell, apply anyways. You only apply to colleges once in your life, might as well aim high.
Doesn't mean much, almost every professor thats teaching that kind of stuff is expected to have worked in the industry on sizable projects. I was in a similar school/situation, but I'm not going to really elaborate further on it.
So don't say AIS is shitty when it matches up to other schools as far as instructors(the most important part) goes?

After I finish my degree here if I can find a job in Boston I might actually go to Berklee to continue my musical education. I've heard great things about it.

what if i want to do both?
I'll gladly spend the next whatever amount years of my life getting a thorough education in both
My teacher has a orgasm the minute anyone mentions Peabody or something. He also says that the staff is actually really nice.

That is all part of the process of making music. This is coming from a musician, who is going to school for music education.

Then go for it!

It's part of the process, but it isn't your vision. It's someone else's vision that you are bringing to life.
What kind of music are you looking to go to school for? I know in cali you can totally find an easy ass community college that has music production for recording/mixing/editing, or music theory stuff, you'd wanna just aim to be a teacher and ask an advisor where to go from there.
Try to pick up some piano/keyboard playing because it will be valuable in music college. Do you play any instruments?
