The 2000's have had some great bands, but none that stand out as much as Elvis did in the 50's, the Beatles did in the 60's, etc. etc. If I had to pick a band, I'd say The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, or Muse.
Muse. Kanye West and Eminem can go fuck themselves.
Kanye West fucking sucks. I personally like Eminem. But HEYALL NO TO KANYE. I hate his ass. He's not the voice of the generation. He's just a gay fish.
rise against
Rise Against is the best out there in my opinion :D [editline]08:24PM[/editline]
Eminem is a wigger, his lyrics are appaling and his beats are weak. I don't know? The Jonas Boys or something.
Adema is really good... But from what I understand, they aren't very popular. Also, without Mark Chavez they kind of fail. Pearl Jam is awesome, though! Many other bands, too. :D [editline]08:29PM[/editline]
Please don't let it be Nickelback....
Nichelback FAILZ
I think the metal the 00's should be remembered for should be stuff like BTBAM
I can only hope so. I haven't heard much good music that's been released recently, and it's not for lack of trying. BTBAM and Dream Theater are definitely up there (new Dream Theater, that is. Obviously they've been out for a while. Octavarium is a great album imo)
Rise Against sucks ass but yeah, they'll probably be remembered.
Most decades had a music revolution that created new genres the last *greatest* period of music (imho) being the 80s. Many new instruments and genres formed with new styles. Synths were a major part of the 80s. Also OP, Michael Jackson / Prince / Madonna ruled the 80s. the 2000's will be remembered as the Lost Period Of Music, as we come into the next decade I can only hope it will be better...I know of one new instrument being created where it emits sound based on certain object (any object you have) properties. Bjork experimeneted with this but I can't find the link. However heres another that is somewhat redeeming in today's society. http://www.sciencecentric.com/art_style/article.php?q=09012201-new-musical-instrument-drums-up-youtube-hit However I think with the age of Digital unfolding, "old fashioned" ways of making music without Autotune or a computer will become obselete. It wasn't too long ago that a group of teens making a band was cliche, nowadays its rare.
I still think this will be precursor to the New Wave Of Thrash Metal in the 10's...
Opeth deserves to be remembered much in the same way as Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. They probably won't, but to me they sure deserve it.
Micheal Jackson [editline]07:06PM[/editline] Not really. The Smashing Pumpkins was before Nirvana. And 10x better.
you ever been on lithium to control your bipolar mania? come back after you have tell me which one speaks to you deeper
Opeth deserves to be remembered much in the same way as Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. They're extremely popular and they have enough talent to actually deserve it. Also, they're mutually liked by metalheads, plain old rock fans, and "indie" "kids".
Muse, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear.
It wasn't too long ago that a group of teens making a band was cliche, nowadays its rare.
Have you been living under a rock or what?
Radio Head UN-undoubtedly...
Never heard of Radio Head.
I would like to say Radiohead but they are undoubtedly 90's. I think the sad truth is that there is not one defining band for this decade. There are no Beatles or Nirvanas of this decade.
you ever been on lithium to control your bipolar mania? come back after you have tell me which one speaks to you deeper
no I have not been on lithium and wat manic bi-polarity does not mean I am schizophrenic stupid head
no I have not been on lithium and wat manic bi-polarity does not mean I am schizophrenic stupid head
what are you talking about lithium is used to treat bipolar disorder, but it numbs your thoughts and feelings and restricts the parts of your mind you took for granted
I don't like any of those bands tbh. I think the metal the 00's should be remembered for should be stuff like BTBAM but it's going to be the screamo bands.
Between the Buried and Me is probably one of the most musically sophisticated bands I know. They definitely deserve a spot on biggest bands of 00's
a chemical imbalance is not because I took something for granted
so you have never relied on your power of thought for anything at all?
We will be remembered by horrible hip-hop and rap. I would like it if people referred to our time as being Linkin Park and The Last Goodnight... you know, that jazz. BTW innerfire34, love your pic!

I think there is a difference between what will be remembered and what people want to remember.
so you have never relied on your power of thought for anything at all?
no never
