Name one genuine hit, or any song from the 00's that actually has structure and popularity.
God, i fucking miss the way it used to back in like 80's, i wasn't alive back then but i've seen concerts and videos and god atleast there were a bunch of amazing hit bands back then but now one person with a voice synth can become the next best thing ever. Not that i have anything against rap or anything, however i miss the way it used to be. The band of this generation is impossible to decide because so much change has happened we have to wait atleast until '10 before deciding, well that was my 2 cents.
ahaha

Elaborate?
Elaborate?
The 80s is kinda known for horrible synth pop

Structure and popularity? That doesn't make any sense, It's like saying name any song that has tempo and a time signature.

Yeah, but was i talking about pop music though? No, i wasn't so what was the point of that.
Yeah, but was i talking about pop music though? No, i wasn't so what was the point of that.
So you weren't talking about how pop musicians today use synth? You seem to be comparing rock music from the past with modern day pop which doesn't make sense.
Your point is completely null anyway, you seem to think as if all the bands from the 70s/80s etc were great. There was just as much shit then but we don't remember it, and there's plenty of 'hit' bands around today.
Emo,
kind of like the 80s was hair metal and new wave, and the 70s was punk and rock and roll, and the 90's was grunge,
the 00s were the emo decade, way to go everyone :emo:
No, no, no and no.
70's was the pre-cursor to metal (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc.) with a few punk bands thrown in (The Misfits, The Ramones, The Dead Boys) and hippie/jam rock/disco. The 80's was punk/hardcore and new wave. Black Flag, Minor Threat, D.O.A., Social Distortion, etc. etc., then Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and other GOOD new wave artists. The LATE 80's was hair metal and New Wave of British Heavy Metal, such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead. The 90's was grunge and nu-metal. You know bands from then... The 00's will be remembered as either the re-surgence of Hardcore or Hip Hop. Hopefully the best of those two genres.
Probably alternative bands that were popular at the beginning of the decade.
Puddle of Mudd
Chevelle
That's how I'll remember it anyway.
Rockophiles will only remember Emo/Post-Grunge, but others will remember the incredible amount of rap and electronica music that could only be heard and spread through the internet.

I think Indie was also a big part of the underground music scene.
It's a bit sad to see that in the old days rock was the main genre everyone listened to, in the 60s and 70s and stuff, now it's all rap and hip hop.
not EVERYONE listened to rock in the 60s/70s, just the same way not EVERYONE listens to other music today. We're in the same boat as we were 30 years ago regardless of how awesome your dad remembers it being
I'm thinking Coldplay, but who knows?
Hope to God it's not 3OH!3.
The Beatles are quite popular these days and everyone knows them too.
Half the people I know respect the beatles for their huge sucesses, but hate them for their soft music, they had their time, it's over now only fifty year olds really worship the beatles now
I'm going to have to say; The Devil Wears Prada.
I can't tell you what band, but I can tell you it'll either be Metal/Screamo/Hardcore or ugh, those goddamn emo bands.
Coldplay
Gorillaz
Linkin Park
Nothing good.
Coldplay
Gorillaz
Linkin Park
Actually yeah, probably Linkin Park is the most popular band I can think of for this generation.
Or GreenDay.
