Green day was pretty much the start of punk music. They're pretty old.
Green Day was FAR from the start of punk music. Try the 70's. Green Day took real punk and watered it down.
Stop trollign, Green Day maed punk msuic what it is todai
LULWAT GREEN DAY ISN'T EVEN PUNK THEY'RE POP PUNK caps
Now now, pop-punk is still punk. While Green Day isn't the best example, you can't deny the punkness of bands like the Descendants and Lifetime. Anyway, some bands that I think will be remembered: Mastodon Against Me! The Mars Volta The Fall of Troy Opeth (maybe not since they've been around since the 90s) Animal Collective Streetlight Manifesto Not necessarily my favorite bands of the decade but I think they'll be remembered in the future.
Disturbed has become really popular in the past decade. That being said, a lot of bands have actually come back "from the dead" if you will. We're getting albums from AC/DC and Guns n' Roses again. Who knows.
Bands like that won't be remembered for their "comeback" albums though.
Bands like that won't be remembered for their "comeback" albums though.
Probably not, but I'm glad they decided to come back at all. :)
The 00's won't be remembered for it's music, but rather, the death of music all together.
The 00's won't be remembered for it's music, but rather, the death of music all together.
Just because you don't look beyond the mainstream doesn't mean there's no good music out there.
Just because you don't look beyond the mainstream doesn't mean there's no good music out there.
How many people are really going to remember good bands like Mastodon or Animal Collective 10 or even 20 years down the line?
How many people are really going to remember good bands like Mastodon or Animal Collective 10 or even 20 years down the line?
Quite a lot I'd imagine. Those bands are extremely popular.
Quite a lot I'd imagine. Those bands are extremely popular.
Mastodon, maybe. Animal Collective not really, but I dunno.
I wish Dream Theater, but they have been around since the 80s, and are largely unknown.
Mastodon, maybe. Animal Collective not really, but I dunno.
They were on Letterman for god's sake.

Well I guess the Descendents weren't pop-punk but they were definitely a huge influence on it. And yeah, I don't really like Animal Collective anymore but they'll probably be remembered.
Gorillaz
Pretty much the only mainstream thing that did something relatively new. I will definitely remember them. Too bad most people told me that "They sucked" because the rest of the album wasn't like "Feel Good Inc."
I wonder what the future will be like. :iiam:
When I invent my sassafrettubalatoriano, it'll change the face of music as we know it.
It'll be stuff like Soulja Boy and other horrible hip hop bands. And then in the latter half of the decade for metalcore and deathcore and stuff.
No. I think that's half right. Most of these bands release one hit wonders that are played on the radio every 4 times a day every day for the next 2 weeks. Nah, I think it's mainly the whole hip hop/rnb genre that'll be remembered. And hated.
Nah, I think it's mainly the whole hip hop/rnb genre that'll be remembered. And hated.
If it's so popular now why will it be hated?
More computer-gen shit like Dubstep... which isn't all that bad
what is this i don't even i don't have any mainstream music in my collection
what is this i don't even i don't have any mainstream music in my collection
Yes you do.
Animal Collective ain't that great, almost every one that listens to them rides fixed gear bikes and pays $25 for a thin v-neck shirt from american apparel
So?
The Gossip will have their big coming, I'm telling you!
The 00's will also be known as the beginning of the big Thrash Metal comback that will explode into the mainstream world in the 10's (Think about it, the Big Four are releasing new albums along with other old bands, and some good new bands are starting to appear...)
Everyone is wrong fyi This is the generation where the internet has finally broken through into Music, what the fuck are you people talking about.
Rage against the Machine probably, they are very popular amongst the part of todays youth that actually cares about music.
