I think he meant something else by hardcore metalhead. [editline]04:41PM[/editline] Kind of like die hard metal head.
I know that. :buddy: It just irks me whenever someone says "This song is so hardcore!" when talking about metal. I've listened to metal and hardcore. I like metal. I despise hardcore. To me, it's insulting to call metal "hardcore", because you're implying to me that its terrible. It's like how homophobes use the word "gay" to describe something they don't like or think is stupid. To them, gays are worthless/wrong/not people/etc, therefore using the word to describe things implies the described thing is worthless/wrong/stupid/etc.

I like how the thread title is misspelled.
Slipknot is Nu Metal. It's called a subgenre. BFMV is Metalcore. It's called a subgenre. Shut the fuck and stop trying to be a hardcore metalhead.
Doesn't change the fact that they suck horribly, and I'd throw objects at them if I ever see them in person for tainting the metal image...
I doubt you've listened to hardcore www.myspace.com/weareallcreatures Listen to that You will dig it Guarenteed
I'm listening to it. I am most definitely not digging it. I want my money back. This doesn't sound like hardcore punk. It sounds more like metalcore [editline]04:37AM[/editline] Well I'll be damned. They are metalcore.
In the fall of 2007, five friends came together to play metallic hardcore in vein of Slayer, Ringworm, and Hatebreed: Creatures was born. [...] Creatures' debut full length, "I, Lucifer" focuses on the band's metal roots and pushes their sound further to the limit. Face melting solos, heavy-pulvurizing riffs, and extreme speed is sure to provide something for everyone. With lyrics of depression, anger, and rage, this album is sure to keep your head banging.
No offense, but you suck at picking hardcore bands to convince people hardcore is good. It helps to actually pick hardcore bands, you know.
That is from the guy who thinks the NWOBHM happened in the late 80's, what do you expect?
I doubt you've listened to hardcore www.myspace.com/weareallcreatures Listen to that You will dig it Guarenteed
Wow. That sounded exactly like I thought it would. I too, would like my money back.
Well Math Rock and Math Metal/Mathcore will be the "Rush" of now. Indie-pop rock along the lines of The Wombats and the like will be the post-punk type stuff. I don't think any power metal band has any right being in this thread since helloween started that shit way back in the day. I think bands that fuse Thrash and Groove metal like Machine Head, Lazarus AD, and bands in that genre will be remembered as Metallica is now. System of a Down will probably be somewhat like The Sex Pistols (but with obvious huge differences, I'm just talking about in how they are remembered). I wish I knew how post-rock would factor into all of this. Dunno what will happen to all the death metal and black metal guys of now. I think they'll just all go into their own camp I guess.
Such as Iron Maiden(70's)
lol they didn't put out a single record until '80 Oh I forgot about bands like Muse, The Killers, etc. Bands like the Hives and the Strokes will obviously go down as Garage Rock bands both which might go onto greater things like how The Beatles started as Garage Rock. I think that Muse, Wolfmother, and The Killers will all be remembered as the best bands of the decade generally. Emo and Metalcore will be the music you get made fun of for listening to, as you should be for listening to it now. [editline]06:38AM[/editline]
The 00's will also be known as the beginning of the big Thrash Metal comback that will explode into the mainstream world in the 10's (Think about it, the Big Four are releasing new albums along with other old bands, and some good new bands are starting to appear...)
It's very possible. Just look at all the new thrash bands popping up now, honestly. Lich King, Violator, Gama Bomb, etc.

There's only two types of hardcore. Hardcore punk, and electronic hardcore. I'm pretty sure you couldn't assume I was talking about electronic hardcore, so I was probably talking about hardcore punk.
I've listened to metal and hardcore. I like metal. I despise hardcore. To me, it's insulting to call metal "hardcore", because you're implying to me that its terrible.
Maybe you missed the "and". I never said metalcore. Don't get me wrong, I hate metalcore too, because its vocals derive from hardcore punk. I was talking about when people call songs that are purely metal "a hardcore song". Like, "Dude, this song is so totally hardcore"; "That is so hardcore how everything stops and then the doublebass comes in!"; "Dude, no way; that guy's scream is so long and hardcore!" Not to mention, most people don't talk about electronic hardcore when talking about metal and/or rock. I don't think I need to add the suffix of punk. It should be pretty easy to assume when I say "hardcore" I mean "hardcore punk". So, just cool down there, little man. Ain't no need to go blow a gasket over it.
Agreed x10000. There is no such thing as "hardcore" unless you are refering to Hardcore Punk or whatever you want to consider hardcore "techno" People saying that Metalcore got it's SHITTY BREAKDOWNS from Hardcore Punk is so fucking stupid. I hear that all the time

Though I am correct in stating that metalcore does derive vocals from hardcore, right? The hardcore shouting?
Barely. Metalcore's vocals are actually derived from EMO shitty whiny singing while the screaming and shit is just taken from Death Metal. I'd be a stretch to say they took anything at all from hardcore punk.

Quit bickering over subgenres, what does it prove?
that's when it arrived in america, you fat prick
Wrong again, Iron Maiden got international fame in 1982, Judas Priest got international fame in 1980, and Motörhead got interantional fame in 1980 as well, so who's the "fat prick" now?
Quit bickering over subgenres, what does it prove?
It validates my existence.

Power violence, d-beat, metallic hardcore (the true metalcore), posicore, post hardcore, pop hardcore, and hatecore. Don't think you've heard it all. And even then they butchered them until they're unbearable.
It shall be known as the decade of rap. Or the decade of 5 minute music.
still you
You wish, your the one flipping out and getting all worked up.
But it did. Ever listened to any NYHC? Youth crew? Powerviolence?
I haven't heard many Agnostic Front songs with minute long breakdowns

Rise Against? They are very popular, and yet somehow manage to sustain a punk sound.
Muse
Rise Against? They are very popular, and yet somehow manage to sustain a punk sound.
I can't wait until DeadWeight reads that. >:C
This generation will be remembered upon it's horrible mainstream Rap, Hip Hop and RnB. Aka nothing good. I'm not saying all of it sucks but it's obvious which ones I'm talking about. I hope I'm wrong though.
