Rise Against?
They are very popular, and yet somehow manage to sustain a punk sound.
I AM GOING TO PULL OUT YOUR EYEBALLS, PUT THEM ON A ROAST, PUT PEPPER ON THEM AND EAT THEM THEN STICK MY ERECT COCK INTO YOUR MOUTH AND CHOKE YOUR AIRWAY SO YOU THE LAST THING YOU SEE IS MY BALLS SLAPPING YOUR CHIN AND MY COCK IN YOUR MOUTH

You kinda contradicted yourself there...
Nirvana? Kurt died in 94, your logic is flawed.
EDIT: Be nice if it were something good but it'll probably be disturbed or something shitty like that.
late 80's:
Rick Astley and Michael Jackson
Early 90's:
Nirvana
you are full of shit

Dude, calm the fuck down. Rise Against aren't that bad.
Least they didn't say shit like Fallout Boy or Panic at the Disco.
It shall be known as the decade of rap.
Or the decade of 5 minute music.
wasn't the 90s the decade of rap?
You kinda contradicted yourself there...
Alright, you got me on that one. Fair play.

You're an idiot
I don't care if they're bad
People call them punk WHEN THEY ARE NOT PUNK
wasn't the 90s the decade of rap?
no, because nirvana made alternative rock mainstream
Guns n' Roses for the 90's
There is nothing punk rock about Rise Against.
wasn't the 90s the decade of rap?
There has never been so much Hip Hop on Tv and radio as now. It's funny how they get so much attention for bragging about their bitches and hoes.
More and more electro is being played on the radio.
I hope the rap phase dies out and electro and house take over somehow.
They won't remember this generation for our culture at all. They'll remember us as the generation that fucked everyone after them.

No thanks

nah
wasn't the 90s the decade of rap?
Depends what you were a fan of I guess. Another big genre during the 90s was Grunge. Even if Kurt died in the middle of the 90s, his influence lasted.
Emo,
kind of like the 80s was hair metal and new wave, and the 70s was punk and rock and roll, and the 90's was grunge,
the 00s were the emo decade, way to go everyone :emo:
Real emo is 80s :S
More and more electro is being played on the radio.

I'd like to hope so too, but it probably won't happen. Electro isn't big enough to be grouped into it's own subculture. It usually gets thrown into the hipster or urban crowds.
The british 00 will just be remembered for fucking indie :sigh:
late 80's:

Rick Astley didn't come close to Michael Jackson. He had one hit. He was mostly only popular in the UK. In order to define a decade of music, you have to have a global influence. Michael Jackson was everywhere in the 80s. Rick Astley... not so much.
The british 00 will just be remembered for fucking indie :sigh:
So?
The biggest contenders for todays generation are probably more on the pop side. Two to take into consideration, Usher and Kanye West.
I don't care how much you don't like them, they have a global influence and millions listen to and love their music.
So?
British indie is really fucking boring. I don't know if you're familiar with the stuff popular around here.
I don't know. Radiohead is British Indie, and they're p cool.
I don't know. Radiohead is British Indie, and they're p cool.
I mean indie in terms of the genre, not the lack of label.
More and more electro is being played on the radio.

It'll probably be emo and rap when people think about music from this decade.
Soulja Boy is going to be the Thriller or Safety Dance of this decade. :crying:

Not really, I live in Toronto, but I love the independant music here, it's wonderful.

When we say British indie we don't really mean independent, that's just what everyone calls it. The bands are far from actually indie. We mean shit awful bands like Scouting for Girls.
Oh okay.

I know Elisabeth Harper but that's it. The biggest problem with indie is that it's tough to find people unless you go to shows and are in the scene.

For Soulja Boy to be the Thriller of this decade, his songs would have to be good and people would have to like it.
