blade runner is insanely famous/popular and has no single devoted but small fanbase, everybody loves it
Whelp Wikipedia does define it as a cult film. " Despite the box office failure of the film, it has since become a cult classic,[1] and is now widely regarded as one of the best movies ever made."
Subway, such an amazing film. Great story, great wrighting and for those who cant read whilst trying to look at things, the dubbing is of very high quality (dubbed by the french actors themselfs)
Two of the finest which have not yet been mentioned
Chinatown won an academy award and was nominated for 10 more and it's now considered one of the greatest neo-noir/crime/drama movies of all time and it has some pretty famous actors in it. That's not really a cult film.
Gummo
This is a cult film? I thought it was just some nasty Sundance film, nasty as it it made me sick- I like Sundance sometimes.
Koyaanisqatsi
Gummo was a really fucked up movie.
They Live. "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble gum."
it also garnished a sequel. not very cultish, i don't think.
The sequel is unofficial. Basically, the original film's director had no involvement in it beyond giving the new director permission to make the movie. It's like a bad fanfiction
Eraserhead, or BLue Velvet
The sequel is unofficial. Basically, the original film's director had no involvement in it beyond giving the new director permission to make the movie. It's like a bad fanfiction

Donnie Darko's writer and director, Richard Kelly, has stated that he has no involvement with S. Darko. He stated "To set the record straight, here's a few facts I'd like to share with you all — I haven't read this script. I have absolutely no involvement with this production, nor will I ever be involved."
it's still an official sequel, even if nothing from the original film had anything to do with it. of course, smart people will just refuse the idea that it exists.
I fucking love cult films.
[IMG_thumb]http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/product_images/1020/196058.1020.A.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I saw this and I'm afraid it was one of the worst movies I ever saw.

A Clockwork Orange was critically well-received, and nominated for several prizes, including the Academy Award for Best Picture (losing to The French Connection), also re-invigorating sales of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony”. More recently, A Clockwork Orange earned a 90% “Fresh” rating in the Rotten Tomatoes movie review website.[17]
not a cult film.

Dr. Strangelove and 2001 were deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and preserved at the Library of Congress in the National Film Registry. That doesn't happen to a cult film!
it was day of the dead but the image broke i fuckin love this movie [editline]10:12PM[/editline] before someone whisleblows: Most critics hated it and it was a box office failure
