Tips for fights in High School
1. Don't get in a fight.
2. If you get in a fight, talk your way out. Anyone who picks a fight in school is a dumbass punk with no damn future. If it's because you insult their girlfriend, it's honourable. If it's because they "don't like your face", they are just an asshole prick.
3. Explain to the school that you were defending yourself. Self-defense is also in the law and explain that you were unable to back out of the situation safely.
4. DON'T GET IN FIGHTS.

Talk your way out of it, if they throw a punch, THEN and only then you fight back.
A few tips:
Never side punch. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to punch someone in the cheek, but it does little to no damage and just makes the other person more pissed off. Also keep your damn thumb out of your fist.
You want to make an impression, you want them to stay the hell away next time, and you want to do it with one to two strikes MAX. Any more than that and you'll be the bad guy in the witnesses eyes. Remember: Nose, Throat, Solar Plexus, Groin. These are the only effective areas to hit during a fight that needs to end fast. Try and stay away from the groin if possible, you want the witnesses on your side, and attacking the groin won't do that.
Avoid the throat as well, it is VERY easy to kill someone with a punch to the throat.
That narrows it down to the Nose and Solar Plexus, a good straight punch to the nose will be excruciating and leave the victim temporarily blind. (Well kinda, the tear ducts well up, so they can't see shit.) Be careful not to punch upward, as you could sever the cartilage and push it into his brain, that's gonna kill him pretty instantly.
Hitting him in the solar plexus, meaning the middle area directly under his breasts, will ground him. It's excruciatingly painful and achieves the same effect that a throat punch will without the great risk of killing him.
Don't be a pussy about it, throw your shoulder into it, that fist needs to fly. Punch the prick as hard as you can, he will leave you alone.
As others have said, avoid a fight at all costs, and only fight back after your opponent has thrown a punch.
