If you don't want to hit back, just take it like a man. Getting hit doesn't hurt until later, or the next day.
If you wanna fight back, let the other guy hit first, throw ONE good punch and then walk away. note: WALK. It's only self defense if you only do what it takes to get away, and then try to get away.
If he comes back after you walked away, then the teachers will agree that you had no other option than but to knock him the fuck out. You tried leaving and being peaceful. You did the right thing.
I got jumped the other day (five dudes showed up, but only one hit me) and I didn't want to get suspended over a nobody who has 0's in all of his classes. I just let him hit me in the face, then I went to the office. They let me go home on excused absence, but the guys ran from the security guards. And even though I didn't fight back, I didn't "Get my ass kicked." He hit me sure, but I didnt let it phase me.
I don't fight with anyone, because I'm bros with everyone. I can take a joke if someone makes it, the best thing to do is respond to them with phrases such as "Yeah Yeah Yeah" with a joking tone of voice. All bullies want out of you is a reaction, so if you respond, but not to their liking, they'll know that the bullying is ineffective, and the time is better spent annoying someone else.

I never fought in High School, never had any reason. Everyone either liked me or remained neutral to me, plus I just don't see how fighting in school is productive. I've witnessed a fight and it was hilarious, though. However, my father has a scar in his knuckle from where some kids tooth lodged itself from when he was in High School, which is pretty badass.
Been in high school 5 years, after this there's only one year left before I'm finished. not been in a fight once, and I plan on keeping it that way. Pointless.

I know, but when you're in a highschool and you're literally surrounded by these people it's best to just fight back and stand your ground. The earlier you do that the earlier the 'bullies' will stop.

I saw one fight between two guys. One guy was really angry and was red like a ballon or something. The other dude was bigger then him. The only thing that happened was this:
Little guy goes all karate bullshit that never works and runs straight in to him. Big guy starts hugging him. They push each other around and then the little guy stops and they walk away.
Seriously, what the fuck does fighting solve? Except a few broken bones, pretty much nothing.

Ignore him until he decides to shove you, then break his nose and kick his ass all over the place. If someone shoves you, it's assault (Atleast where I live). And by shove I don't mean you're standing in the grocery line and someone brushes your shoulder you have the permission to beat the shit out of them, I mean if they shove you in a threatening way, it's assault.
Just either ignore him or tell whoever it is to screw off, it's the best you can do.
Although i preferred back in the days (in my country at least), if 2 kids had a fight in school, it was alright, they'd be cool the next day, today though? police everywhere in this bitch, parents threatening to sue the school or the other kid's family, it's fucking ridiculous

They always say shit like "we'll meet after school at the courtsblahblahblah". Couldn't be bothered to go, I have more important things to do then worry about a thrash up, even if the next day, they or him would feel stupid standing around waiting for me, that was the idea.

Best I did was go out of school grounds, when a group of idiots ended up
chasing me around, I shall call one of them David West for personal reasons. He's always targeting me. I called on them to the teacher, and they were sat down at the "punishment" area. I even thought this West guy was crying when I was sitting for lunch, and might of saw him two seats away. I don't know, just me.
So doesn't matter now, I'm outta that stage, thank the lords. Doesn't mean, I didn't fight in any "school battles" anyone had. More funny to watch them then to be in them. I just don't deal with being the teacher's pet.
Another story, about another kid, I don't remember if I was picking on him, or he was picking me, memory faded a little. But anyway, even when I was told on, the same teacher that came up to me, to leave the kid alone, also hang out with the kid, sometimes. Like some protection fag. Like he earned his wings and become a good little boy. Sounds confusing, because I rather let it go.
I also teased one of my brother's friend, who was kinda nerdy, and regret a little, feels bad man. I was also friends with someone random person I don't remember, nor do I care now who we teamed up to tease him. Called four eyes, acting like we are the cool insulters and shit like that. Dumb kids those days.
^ Okay most of that didn't have anything to do fighting. Wasn't worth trying to beat up my brother's friend, nor why, I don't think I was pissed off about what did or do. Just the stereotypical nerd syndrome. Now these days, I don't mind hanging out with the nerd crew.
