Yo. My friend out west is looking to do American Revolution. Anyone know some good units in Southern California that don't require you to work at Riley's Farm?
I do WWII Chinese National Revolutionary Army

gives us reason to use cool German gear without falling victim to "your impression is farby because you're asian"
I've always wanted to participate in a reenactment of some sort. Is there an age requirement, entry / joining fee, and do they lend you equipment and whatnot for the day? Also, do you like "die" in reenactments when you get shot or something?
I do Viking reenactment in the Netherlands. Some pictures (img #2 and #3) of our most recent event: http://www.hskrant.nl/nieuws/24485/topdrukte-op-zweedse-kerstmarkt-fraeylemaborg-fotoserie/#sthash.TTtFtJgc.gbpl

The group I'm in also does late Roman reenactment, but I don't do that personally. I just do 9th century Birka Viking

Generally you have to join a group, some have age requirements. Depends mainly on the period. WWI for example is strictly 18+ from what I've seen.
Groups I've looked at have yearly dues, and for new people some groups lend out some equipment. After a couple of events you'd have to get your own of whatever was being lent.
Death is an interesting thing in reenactments. From the Revolutionary War reenactors I've talked to there are pretty much two ways for it to happen. If you feel like tapping out, go for it when the next volley or whatever is. The other way I've been told is that your officer goes "OK X, Y, and Z die in the next volley".
That's pretty much everything that I know, if anyone has corrections/something to add, feel free to :v;
