It's very funny because often the people that hate on bronies and MLP are the ones who are being the most insecure, socially awkward and obnoxious.
Anyone can have fun watching a show intended for children - men, women, athletes, bodybuilders, truck drivers, policemen, etcetera. However, to hate on a show and its members just because some obsess over it takes a very special kind of dickhead.

Obviously those are not the ones too eager to fight for their fandom. They consider it to be a good show. Some of the fans create amazing music/drawings/comics and some of them create rule 34 stuff and insanely obsess about it.
Some people think MLP is a case of "hate it or love it", when in fact you can do the following things (in a kind of order):
- hate bronies
- think bronies are weird, but w/e
- be neutral towards bronies
- appreciate bronies for saying what they like out loud
- just like the show, but not really following it
- following the show and liking it
- watching the show and consuming the user content [sp](me)[/sp]
- consume rule 34 content
- have pony dolls/clothes/other merchandise
- be wearing that merchandise in public
- go to as many conventions as possible, also wearing merchandise.
and everything in between. Not every brony is a spaghetti monster, but certainly some of them are.
