When I first heard about the whole brony phenomenon, I called my pap to see if he had heard about them. He happened to have heard from the radio, and we discussed how 'whatever makes you happy' is almost void in this situation due to how ridiculously outlandish this whole ordeal is. I was the one primarily to say that the whole fanbase had to of been a collection of fat manchildren with no real grasp on how things are supposed to work. We both thought the whole thing was odd and the conversation ended. Later I got on a GMod server to dick around on, and saw that the two people there were using the Youtube player to play a MLP Youtube Poop on. I was about to leave until it made me laugh, then I watched the whole thing and was dying of laughter. I normally don't enjoy the tired out concept of a Youtube poop, but this one just made me laugh. So, then, after convincing from my friends on steam, I decided to watch an episode. I felt weird watching the show and was very close to just forgetting about it and watching something like Breaking Bad instead. After finishing the first episode I was left with a cliffhanger, and to complete my opinion of the show, I watched the second episode. I had an opinion, and that was that the show was 'okay'. However I found myself watching more episodes and I felt especially weird doing so. They were enjoyable and I actually had a good time watching them. I have albums by the musicians, artwork on my PC, and watch the show as it comes out now. 'The people who hate the show the most are usually the ones who end up watching it' is most certainly true. I wanted nothing to do with it at all until I was exposed to the show and a curiosity was formed. Anyways, I didn't mean to type up such a big thing for such a little point so here's a tldr

Similar story here. I tried watching the show when the first MLP threads started showing up on FP, but I got like 10 minutes through the first episode before I turned it off and said it was shit. Then I got back from vacation the following summer to discover that a good friend of mine had gotten into the show. After some prodding from him and some mild exposure, I decided to give it another try, and I ended up really liking it. I've become really jaded about the fanbase since then (because the fanbase is getting shittier by the day), and I would no longer call myself a brony, but I still watch the new episodes and check up on fan content occasionally. I've also started teaching myself music production, thanks to some of the better fan remixes. On the whole, I feel I've learned a valuable lesson about judging things too quickly, and I probably won't be forgetting about the show any time soon.
