I once tried not being a nerd. Ended up going to a dull music concert and a couple of really stupid parties. I'd really just prefer to stick to Saturday night dnd and hosting lan parties with my other nerd friends.

I don't really see where I stand. I mean yeah a lot of my free time is spent online games and facepunch etc, but on the otherside I'm not even close to a social outcast. I know most if not all the girls in my grade fairly well, I've gone to parties but thing is I've never had a girlfriend :frown:. (Well.. I like to not count this one girl... quite an embarrassing situation.)

We need to address each individual problem one small step at a time, so here it begins:

If you are a true nerd this is your basis for life. It's fun yes I agree, but in small amounts when there is honestly nothing else to do! A nice alternative is to be outside trying new things and adventuring around. All areas of the world have hidden little gems for young adults like us to go play. Take your bike and your friends, get a lighter and some petrol and just have a fire that will surely get you arrested. Just get out and have a look around, you never know the fun you might miss out on. The outside world is big and huge. There are even girls or boys out there who are single still looking for someone. Go and be that someone.

[b]3 and 4:[/b]

People most probably will not approve of you in school or at social events because of one or more of the following:

[u]You talk about strange things[/u]
Find conversations about things that others would be interested in (such as music, films, TV, life, current events and problems).

[u]Your Appearance[/u]
Dress in the latest styles and one that suits you (Try to avoid dark clothing, or anything with chains hanging off of it).

[u]Your Actions[/u]
You are not very outspoken and mostly keep to yourself. Try to get more involved in activities and make your self known to the people around you.

Redecorate your room. Clean and clutter free is the way forward. Light blue walls, beach wood floor and furnishings always the best option, lots of light and storage, throw out your chunky TV, get some nice LCD/LED, get rid of that Gamecube and your old videogame consoles put them away. Throw in a sound system your done.

Now for all you FacePunchers out there that have made endless jokes up about this thread already, bring it on. Because you are the type of people this post is about and I really don't care if you are offended that I am trying to help people.

Also the majority of your “advice” is more related to commit anti-social behaviour than normal social behaviour. Also it results you to be someone who you are not to be "accepted" which is completely wrong. You make friends and have acceptance with people because of who you and they really are, not what they want you to be.

I recently started cutting back on my addiction to computers, which has completely changed my outlook on life!

I'm not as pessimistic as I used to be, and I've been able to find other hobbies and interests which have actually created (somewhat) of a social life for myself (although they are still "nerdy" interests, like role-playing games, but at least I have a close group of friends and a social life now).

After curing my Internet addiction, I realized that I can write very well, and started writing stories.

1) some of those, but also drinking and studying.
2) i don't do that, i like online games for having a nice conversation.
3) finished school, did ok, learnt how to spell school

Yes, I play WoW, but that's only because my social disabilities make it hard for me to get along with people in real life, yes I can be social at times, but social time with me can sometimes be awkward because I occasionally might say something others might not want to hear without me thinking. So I use the internet as a way to escape my troubled reality.

And yes, I'm semi-crippled, I have a bone marrow disease that comes to me every once in a while that makes my legs brittle, and swell up.

I'm a nerd and I'm friends with most people at school, I have a gf, and I'm an honor student.

I still spend >5 hours a day on the computer, and I'm not in great physical shape (can still run a mile 6 minutes.)
