We had a mass at my school. Last year a small bell tower was built for the war-dead, and so we had a mass by the bell tower. The only problem though is that they put all the fucking chairs facing the hot sun. Now my face is burnt. No body listened to what was being said, because we were all burning in the sun. And then we had to go write an exam.
I hate the way people treat veterans. Especially british veterans. Fact is, they saved this country in WW2.
Are you going to blatantly ignore the efforts of the Air Raid Precautions Wardens that prevented a lot of people in the UK getting killed?
lol i remember at the end of secondary school there were some old people (war vets?) talking.
it was really boring, so me and 1 friend of mine started clapping when he took a small brake from talking so much. A chain reaction of handclapping ensued and then he continued talking. :v:

You're a fucking idiot.
We just watched a few clips from youtube and had a minute's silence in maths. No fancy bands or anything.
i guess you could say the nazis got the last laugh
We all gathered into the gymnasium to attend the year 11 remembrance day ceremony.
The entire thing was awful. Like always, the war vets would come in, dressed in uniform and given an introduction. This would be a good start until the cadets marched in.
All of them were "marching" like Napoleon Dynamite, heads stretched back, some of them not even marching right with folded arms instead.
An announcement is made: "May everyone rise for the playing of 'O Canada'". Someone yells "For fuck's sake!" as we stand.
The Veterans didn't get that much respect as one of them went up and made a speech, pouring his heart out for the audience in which about 40-50% were talking.
Taps/The Last Post was dreadful. Almost literally not a single note was hit right and at one point, the trumpet player went back and repeated himself (or "herself", I didn't see the player.).
So all in all, I didn't have a good one at all. People were talking the entire way through and the sound was awful. Whenever a veteran would make a speech, you couldn't hear them.
Anybody else go to a ceremony like this today? If so, I hope you had a well respected one. These Vets deserve nothing less.
I had this too, We had two kids dressed up as soldiers, and fucking walked like monty python and it was fucking awful, i felt like shit.
this does not make me sad
THIS MAKES ME RAGE !
They were not heroes they were sent there against their will. They didn't want to be heroes and fight for a war they do not even give a shit about. The only heroes are those who fought in WW2 because WW2 was not just a thing of alliances turning badly.
Grow up and get out.
Yeah sorry GOD SAVE THE QUEEN i'm a total dick. My grandfather had to hide in order not to be sent overseas. that is some serious bullshit right there
Maybe your grandfather was a fucking pussy that didn't have half the balls the men/women/children did when they fought in WW2*
It didn't really take a fucking rocket scientist to understand that the germans were evil back then, pal.

Don't be ignorant now. In that war everybody was to blame.
Okay if no one fought and germany had won, we'd all be fucked is my point.
The advantage of a UK public school with a chapel, Great service, choir was beautiful, the school war memorial was cleaned this year, the last post was played brilliantly, the CCF was on top form, and everyone was polite.
My favourate compulsory sunday service.

Also don't forget about all the Germans who died just doing their duty with the rest of the world.

Oh don't be so fucking arrogant. The Germans where not evil. Sure there may have been some who were, as there is anywhere, but many where just doing their duty to not get court-martialed, just like many allies.
In my opinion the British generals where just as, if not more, evil for making men WALK across no-mans land.
They were pretty damn evil in WW2.
I should've edited that, he said his grandfather, not his great grandfather.
They were just doing as they were told on pain of death. Arguably Hitler was evil and he was making them do it, but they were not evil.
It's dumb fucks like you that start wars.
I guess it can't be helped though, games and *most* films are all "GERMANS ARE EVIL NAZI'S OCCULT HITLER DIE DIE DIE", so it paints a one sided opinion. We need a game from the German point of view where you are forced to do things you don't want to (or do, but then you coast through the game) or your commanding officer/allies kill you.
My great grandfather was a double agent for the nazis in WW2, he took photographs of Hitler's mansion and gave them to the allies.
He was later compromised and shot, because he was smart enough to recognize the fact that baking 2 million people in a fucking oven was evil.
Forced or not, you sit there in fear and let them do these things to these people then you're just as guilty as the man you follow. We all have choices, even back then.
We all have choices, and I agree, what they did was evil, but many had little choice. People have always had to do unbearable things in war, and justified at as just being what had to be done. They didn't want to do it, but they had to. The same thing happened with the allies to a lesser extent. In WW1 many didn't want to kill the Germans, didn't want to fight, but they had to, as it was their duty to their country, on pain of death. And as illogical as it may be people will do many horrible things to aviod death.
Pretty much everyone was telling me how stupid my poppy looked. I was proud to wear it so I didn't actually care :v:
