There we go, my song is finished.
Some may say it's a boring album due to it being mostly experimental instrumental stuff, but I reckon it'll be more artistic.
Should be a good one.
DJ Shadow showed us a perfect instrumental album. Why can't we? :smug:
It'd be more artistic if there was variation. And vocals. Broaden the horizons of the album.

Look I want to listen to some vocals okay :smith:
There's vocals on my submission but I'm an untrained singer so I'm not sure if you really want vocals.
Edit : But yes my track is with vocals
I have always prefered instrumental songs since they dont shove it in your face what the song is about, lets the listener make up for him self what the song is about imo.
I guess songs with cryptic lyrics have the same effect though.

If you don't want to sing, then I'd be glad to do a vocal track. I've got a slightly limited vocal range, though, so nothing too high or low.

There will be some obviously...
Far too much complaining, be more open to what people have to offer. :smug:

I think I'm going to keep the vocals on this track, but we (me and my friend) have a song that I've just written lyrics for that we'd love to have vocals for.
I'll send a PM with details!

Whoa, Facepunch fucked up.
Has the album art been done or is that open for someone to try?

I'm sorry, I sound a bit whiny
All I'm saying is that it doesn't reflect the potential that this collaborative group effort has to offer - while the instrumental music does sound top notch, having a CD of just instrumental stuff means that there's an entire section of musical potential left unexplored
I just want you guys to broaden your horizons :unsmith:

The cover is pretty much done, all it needs is to be finalized with every participant. We're going to need a back cover with all the tracks though, so if you want to work something out for that I'd very much appreciate it :) Right now you just have to work up the art for it, the artists names will be added later when all tracks are in.

I agree, adding vocals to a song can make a world of difference. It brings another melody to it and it makes it easier to listen to (most of the time) due to there being a more pronounced melody.

Stop smithing.. :unsmigghh:
The thing is, however it turns out. It'll be a good effort.
There can't be an arguement about music without vocals vs music with them.
Music section is just round the corner, we could fight proper! :mmmsmug:

All about expression and effort for me. I've listened to far too many good artists to close myself down to a particular type, I'm always wanting new things to experience.
My track has got vocals.
Also, the whole ambient filler between the tracks seems very pointless to me.
I've got an Idea.

As does mine :respek:
Count me in on this one - I didn't get in last time ): Hopefully I will this time!
Fillers seem very pointless yes, they make sense when they are connecting two songs but now they will just be shoved in between two random songs.
[editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
Only one song left to go!
It's almost released. :v:
It will be a double album as compared to last time. 90 minutes, may just be the masterpiece. :smug:
Oh god, i'm going to record my track this afternoon, really hope I don't get beaten to the post :ohdear:
Hold my place? :v:
My track has got vocals. [img_thumb]http://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smilies/imported/shades.gif[/img_thumb]
My track is going to have vocals.
Fuck you.
rude
Complete the album already! :v:
Since the album is almost complete I'm reposting my album cover now.
I'm thinking we should ditch the artist names on the front as they will be listed on the back anyway:
Front:

Back:

Since you guys didn't like the font last time, could you give me some suggestions for "hand written" fonts?
I don't have a scanner on hand so scanning my own handwriting won't be an option, it'd look like shit anyway.
Make sure you add the "Smug Records" record label. :smug:

Awwww yeahhh :smug:
And for that font thing above, try dafont.
