Free Music : Let's create more awesome music and put it together as a another CD!

Oh man, looks like I totally dropped the ball on the last CD. Okay, put me on the list (again) and I should have my track uploaded by the end of next week //hopefully//. Unless I disappear again.... Kinda in the same situation as HappyWombleM, but music rarely fails to bring me through. It's when I stop making music that the invasive thoughts swarm again ANYWAYS I hope I can make the deadline for this one!
I usually make instruments in Reason and play around with them for a few hours, and I start to get wrapped up in it. Then I'll use it to make a track. It just so happens that I found a really cool preset in Massive which I didn't feel the need to change at all, since what I was playing just kinda worked with it. So now comes the task of writing the rest of the song.
Sure, I'll submit a song for the CD.
already posted my contribution in the other thread, but ill post it here again
i think the output from logic pro is already -3dB but i changed that before uploading it to soundcloud so ill reupload it to my dropbox
is it ok if it's an .aif, which is basically the same quality as a .wav

im pretty sure this is -3dB
I now can't decide if I should record some weird accordion improv or just go classic electronic ableton sessions. Choices choices choices....

This isn't my submission, but this is a remix I did of Natrox's submission in the last album. Right now we're sending stuff back and forth and we have some really nice sounds and melodies. Can't wait to see where we go with it.
Oh, and you can skip to 3:40 if you're impatient.
Yeah .aif works too.

Take your time, the deadline is a few months ahead and once your submission is sent I'm not going to let you make major changes, to prevent so that people just don't send in some half-assed song just to ensure that he/she has a spot on the CD.

yeah, i did this last time and i got a lot of flak for it since it was really repetitive (like, repetitive even for ambient house, which is pretty repetitive by nature since it's basically zone-out music)
anyways here's the -3dB version of cefnfor

also, if there aren't enough people to have 24 songs, will you allow multiple submissions

Yes, although I highly doubt we'll come to that ; Last thread had over 24 people interested and from the looks of it, this one is going to get even more attention.

i'll participate, maybe. hopefully i can shit out something semi-decent before the deadline.
Why would your goal be to make something semi-decent?
Why would your goal be to make something semi-decent?
Yeah, you should be striving to make the shittiest song ever!
But seriously, you should try as hard as you can to make a good song. Usually, if you do that, then you'll make a good song.
May I join, I do some theatrical classical work in Pro Tools 8; just tell me if I'm in.
Also, is there a way to make something -3db volume in Pro Tools?
I recorded an acoustic jam thingy but my stereo mix isn't working so I can't get it out of mixcraft lol

Anyone can join. As long as you think its decent enough it's decent enough for me. No discrimination towards any genre or stuff like that ; It's the user him/herself who decide if the track he/she is about to send is good.
I've been working on a song, and if I get the time, I'll work on it this weekend.
I'm thinking of adding some raps to it, seeing as it is kind of trip-hopish. Maybe some dubstep too, if it doesn't crash too much with the style.

I'm not too familiar with Pro Tools, but I'd be surprised if there weren't some form of Normalization plugin. Find that and have a play.
I'm just going to quote the PM I sent Gregah:
I just got an idea: We could start up a netlabel for Facepunch musicians. Call it "Fistface Records" or something. I'd help set up the website and such. We'd use Bandcamp for hosting the music and a custom domain plus Wordpress for news and such. It would be pretty simple to do with Bandcamp, seeing as you can set the artist for a specific album/song. The best thing about it would be that it would get a lot of publicity for the musicians.
So what do you think?
Aa you can imagine, this won't exactly be easy to do with just 2 guys. Would anyone be willing to help out? That includes helping out monetarily since we plan on buying some hosting and a domain address.
It will help promoting your music though, and I also think that having a site with your music can mean that we could put it up on spotify too, as we'll act as a record label for your music. It means there will most likely be money involved for you to earn, although I'm not entirely sure how it would work. I'll get in touch with spotify to see how it works and get back to you guys.
Do you have any rough estimate it would cost to get a page for us, MrOwn1?
Dont found a label without intention of making money.
Dont found a label without intention of making money.
That's the plan. It'll be a fair split between the artist and the label though. Probably a 60-40 split with 60% going to the artist.
If we did make a record label then there would have to be scrutiny of music, otherwise it would fail and money would be lost.
Do you have any rough estimate it would cost to get a page for us, MrOwn1?
Depends. I think we could get something that'll be good for us for something like 7 dollars a month.

I think you're misusing the term "scrutiny".
Scratch that idea, the music produced here is nothing outstanding, it's ok to be put in a FP box and given out for free, but nothing people would buy over other music.

One guy paid 40 something dollars for the last collab.
About the quality: In my opinion (someone's probably going to think differently), it's hard to make good music when you have a deadline to meet. I know that I make better music when I'm not worrying about having to finish it by a certain date.
If we have to make good music then I guess I'm out of here :v:

I think your music is very good.

Listen to all the songs on my soundcloud and say that again. I dare you. :v:

Your fuckup of Baby by Justin Beiber just gave me a horrible idea.
...I need a Justin Beiber acapella and a high quality version of Windowlicker by Aphex Twin.
