I figured what's an english lesson coming from someone who never uses periods, so I threw them in after I wrote everything out and I use capitalization all the time ffffff
Can't you start using periods? It looks nicer.
I want to be able to ban people for using commas in place of colons in their thread titles "Sharks, the kings of the sea" "DarkRP, they gayest gamemode of them all" etc
Welcome to class, students! Class music for today: Today, we focus on the fine art of Proper Word Usage! Before we begin, please take a pencil and paper to jot all this down, otherwise please use notepad/Word. Let us begin: There,Their, and They're These words are mixed up all the damn time, so lets go over them! There - Can mean either, *In or at that place(Stand over there!) *to or into that place(went there after church.) *at that point or stage(Stop right there before you say something you regret!) *in that matter, respect, or relation(There is where I disagree with you.) Their - Used to show possession, as in "Their truck crashed into a tree!" or "Their dog bit me yesterday!" If there is only one person who's ownership is being shown, it is simply "his" or "hers"! They're - Ah, the fabled They're, this one can really strike out some of the more initiate level word users, but you'll show em you mean business next time you whip this one out! They're is simply a contraction form of "They Are", so any time you were to use "they are" as in "they are going to their house" or "they are riding bikes together", you can also simply use They're! In fact, any word that you see an apostrophe in is simply a contraction form of two separate words! fancy that. To, too, and two Another common mistaken switchamaroo involves these words, to, too and two! To- Similiar to there, it is used to show relation. as in "I'm going to the store." or "In order toshow you this I need some help!" You should have this one figured out due to your other teachers shoving it down your ear for 6 years straight. Too- Used to show something at an excessive degree"TOO MANY PUPPPIIIEESSSS, TOO MANY PPPPUUUHHPIES!", or simply to show something tagging along"I'm going there too!" Two - It's the number two, as used in "Two plus two equals four!" or "There are two apples here!". In proper english writing(like in your essays you will all be writing me), you MUST write out any number under ten. otherwise you may just use the numeric form! Finally, we have Your and You're Your - Used to show possession on you! Such as "Shut your dog up" or "You should watch yourself!" You're - Think back to They're. What did I tell you class? Yes! All words with an apostrophe in them are simply a contraction of two seperate words! You're is a contraction of You Are! Used like so "You're a douche" or "You're going to lose this race!" If you've written all this down and have at the least a brief understanding of using the words decribed, congratulations! You receive an A!:eng101: This is your teacher signing off for now, have a good day class! Please report any errors found in my lesson today to me and I will fix it in due time if you've proven yourself correct!
I thought that it was relevant.
Nothing I didn't know or follow, but still a useful guide. Great Job!
I was promised silver ham.
I'll listen when you Americans start using the letter 'u' properly. And when you spell 'centre' properly as well. PS: And don't get me started about aluminium.
...And now my life is complete.
These words are mixed up all the damn time, so let's go over them!
Fixed :science:
I'll listen when you Americans start using the letter 'u' properly. And when you spell 'centre' properly as well. PS: And don't get me started about aluminium.
Hmm...
IMAGE Hmm...
Hmm... Seriously Guyz stop chaning how you use english, I'm sick of hearing "Alominum" instead of "Aluminium"
I saw someone use your as you're this morning and needed something to do for today sue me haha
There's something to go right alongside proper spelling. It's called proper Grammar. Which you are lacking in, considering the lack of capitalization and spelling in your posts (example given: Above Quote). Try practicing what you preach next time.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/center http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/centre They're synonyms.
Hmm... Seriously Guyz stop chaning how you use english, I'm sick of hearing "Alominum" instead of "Aluminium"
Who the hell spells "aluminum" "alominum"? You spelled aluminum wrong too.
I saw someone use your as you're this morning and needed something to do for today sue me haha
You forgot multiple points of punctuation in this post.
OH! OH! Mr.Ham? Can I go to the bathroom, please? I have to pee.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Ohh god. :)
You forgot then and than.
Can't you start using periods? It looks nicer.
I only like to see a period about a week after I have had sex. Let's me know I am SAFE! No babies coming this time!
I don't like the word CENTRE or THEATRE. God damn... Europe and their god damn, god damn....
I always like being perfect with my vocabulary. And when it comes to the name "Left4Dead"...gah, I can't stand the way Valve named it. Why not "Left For Dead"? I can't force myself to use internet shorthand. It's below my dignity. The only time I will use numbers in my sentences is when I say something like "Well there was 4 oranges there.", but I cannot stand "Lets go 4 a walk".
I don't like numbers in usernames. I don't like 1337 speak. I don't like acronyms. I don't like incorrectly spelling words that I know. I'm cool with misspelling some foreign word that I never use but I just get neurotic about stuff like this. Antidisestablishmentarianism.
This thread was obviously to whore funnies..

(You only use the number itself when above ten). Let's go for a walk.
When it's above one hundred. :eng101:
Ten.
*at that point or stage(Stop right there before you say something you regret!)
should be "something you WILL regret", since you can't regret something you didn't do yet.
Shouldn't the title be Proper Grammar instead of Proper Word Usage?
Bumping this because you're all fucking illiterate.
:eng101:
