Yeah. I'm a raging homosexual with no idea on music. Well I have a decent grasp on music IMO, but yeah my view of metalcore is probably not actual metalcore. I just see metalcore as metal with harsh vocals. Although the OP does have kind of harsh vocals, I just assume it's punk because of it being shouting rather than growling.
This is hardly metalcore. Sounds like hardcore punk to me. I'm not all too keen on metalcore, but the 3 videos that I've linked are metalcore. Integrity doesn't sound like metalcore at all.
This is the current state of metalcore, which is better referred to as pop metal IMO. Like what Motely Crue was to metal back when they first started 1982-ish, but actually a bit worse.
You two are both being silly, agree to disagree, the term metalcore has been warped and no one can change that, so move on, you're both right.
They are not both right, Racid is right, the other guy doesn't understand the roots of metalcore(as it is now). Integrity and Earth Crisis were at the beginnings of metalcore and they are the basis for what metalcore has become(officially known as "melodic" metalcore in some circles). It's not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact and Racid is right.

Look up the definition of pop. You can play a jazz song with the tone of a death metal song if you're not aware, it's still jazz.
Sounds... Alright, I guess. I'm not a big fan of Metalcore, but if I had to, I'd much rather listen to Madball or something. [editline]06:57PM[/editline] It's not that angry either... Doesn't even hold a fucking candle to something like Pantera. [editline]07:15PM[/editline] Also, why does it say "Sludgecore" on their Wiki page? Sounds nothing like Sludge to me.
How is it pop metal? Are the guitars not distorted and down-tuned enough for your liking?
Pop(popular) metal because it is a very commercialized genre and appeals to specific demographics(teens) in order to obtain more money.
real, good metalcore
Actually, Racid is right on this part, completely. Metalcore is, quite literally, a fusion of hardcore punk and heavy metal. Earlier metalcore (or metallic hardcore) were really the only bands to play true metalcore. By this I mean there'd be no real easy distinction between whether is more hardcore or more metal. (unless you were a veteran at determining them, like I'm sure Racid is :v:) To be honest, I'm not sure why all these modern metalcore bands are considered metalcore; there's an awful little amount of hardcore punk or heavy metal in them (though there is more metal, but that doesn't mean there is much) Personally I think metalcore needs to be split into two. There should be metallic hardcore (as a distinct genre) for actual "metalcore," such as Integrity, and then there should be "metalcore" as what it is today. In my opinion.
Genre arguments are so pointless... What's metalcore/not metalcore... honestly who gives a fuck? It's hard to classify music. really, it is. So don't give people shit if you think they did it wrong.

I'm gonna bump this with some good metalcore Violation -- www.myspace.com/violationhc ---- Super metallic hardcore band. Probably one of the most metallic hardcore bands around. Harm's Way - www.myspace.com/harmsxway Creatures -- www.myspace.com/weareallcreatures -- One of my favorite bands all time. These guys shred. Downpresser -- www.myspace.com/downpresser805 -- Another awesome band. I'll post more in a little while
This stuff is really great.
Whoever posted above saying this isn't metalcore was spot on. It's hardcore punk. Am I the only one finding it a bit moronic listening to bands based on how much they make you rage? Anyway, mediocre hardcore band, nothing special I've heard and listen to better.

Metalcore = metallic hardcore metal + hardcore fused together not high whiney vocals with palm muted open breakdowns second These guys have been around forever They pretty much started metalcore
BUMP THIS SHIT arahsd
Another great Integrity song, but not very Integrity-like. Yeah, I know this is a bump.
these guys started straight edge, so you better like them. xDRUG_FR33x -van gogh
lol Straight Edge. :obama:
Wow, you people care about genres waaay too much. I guarantee that if you ask 90% or indie rock, progressive rock, lo-fi, bro-fi, math rock, mathcore, post-hardcore, chillwave, shoegaze, or nugaze bands what genre they are, they'll say something along the lines of "we're a rock band". Genres are invented by critics to identify bands that sound similar. There is no point arguing about what genre a band is, because most bands can be classified in a variety of different ways.
