I have one of these, It's cost a dollar in a gift shop in Alaska.
$2 bills are cool. Coins are cool as well.
A friend of mine got his entire paycheck cashed in gold dollars once. He had them in a big sack with a "$" on it, and slammed it down on the counter at retail in order to dig though the sack and pay for his items. He was seriously like some kind of crazy viking with pieces of gold for currency for a week or so.
He was talking about doing the same with 2$ bills as well, but I don't know if he's done it yet.

They don't seem to print them anymore and they're quickly vanishing out of circulation. Probably because since they were first created, £1 has become worth a lot less.

I also don't understand why it's easier to carry coins. Paper is lighter and easier to identify if you're in a hurry. It also doesn't make a bunch of noise when you are carrying them and can be folded to take up virtually no room unless you are carrying $20 worth of $1's.
