No, it's illegal to refuse to accept legal tender from a customer unless it is posted specifically as a notice.

Only in the real world.
They dont work in vending machines.
I tried.
oh, who else likes to super glue change to the sidewalk or road? It's so fucking funny watching people try to pick them up.
:downs: :smug:
I use these all the time and people think they aren't real
They dont work in vending machines.

This is why you guys need $1 and $2 coins. Bills constantly fuck up in vending machines, coins rarely ever do.
I think paper is cheaper than metal..
that's not how currency works
at all.
Coins are harder to counterfit, they are also harder to destroy.
I had about 5-6 of these from when I broke into this one house. I cashed them all in except for the oldest one, a 1953. Its my lucky two dollar bill and I keep it in my wallet. Maybe it will save my ass some day

I'm about ready to withdraw all the money in my savings account and request it all to be in $2 bills and $.50 coins. Then always pay with these.

Australian two dollar coins are common, but the aussie $100 bill is a rare sight.

We have badasses like Jefferson who declared war on pirates, threw parties at the White House in their pajamas and spent $120,000 on wine.
I just found the 2 dollar bill my mom gave me when I was like 5. Surprisingly its in like mint condition from sitting in the bottom drawer of my desk.
I remember seeing a fuckton of $2 bills in the 90s.
Cannaaaduuuh what!
These things are getting high circulation nowadays
I went to close my bank account recently (Fucking BOA sappin my account) and they payed me the balance in mostly these bills (I had like only $30 dollars left when they raped my account :crying:).

Now that's some badass money. :v:
I have a 2 dollar bill in my safe, I'm afraid it will turn to dust if I touch it.
I got about 10 of these from a friend in Washington DC. They're just sitting in my safe because I've yet to see anyone use them in Seattle, or the Pacific Northwest for that matter.
Some dumbshit at the gas station wouldn't take it when I had one years ago.
That's illegal.
Also I went to the bank and exchanged 100 1 dollar bills for 50 2 dollar bills.
I used them all to put more out there.
This thread is just a bit of fun for Americans or Europeans out there who frequently use American currency.
As you've probably figured out, this thread is about these odd things:

Yup, for those who don't know, two dollar bills do exist and really are legitimate US currency, even if they are rarely seen in circulation under normal circumstances.
It currently has the oldest design currently being used in US currency (pun half intended). It's also in my opinion one of the better looking designs seen on US currency, which tends to be relatively boring otherwise.
Because they are so uncommon, $2 bills have been used by some business to demonstrate their impact on the local economy, using them to pay their employees and noting the number in circulation in a given area. Some say they are also favored by strip clubs, as handing them out as change increases tips for dancers and bartenders over time.
Anyway, back on topic.
How many two dollar bills have you seen or used lately?
I have one.
