Thanks, I might take the 1 risk a day thing by heart, would be neat.
My problem is not knowing what I should be doing but not being a lazy shit and actually doing it.
That was strangely motivational and I'm surprised facepunch took to this thread. This is probably the best first post I've seen.
Oh wow, that was motivational.
I'm serious. But the part where I take one risk per day, I'm gonna change it to one risk after 2 days so it's more balanced.
No dude, risks aren't imba it's just rewards were fucking nerfed to hell in the latest patch.

This too.
Naw Shen, I'm pretty pleased with my life as it is. I was a bit disappointed that there were no MS paint pictures to go with this though :smith:
Thanks, for 2 minutes I forgot I was a loser and I fantasized about changing my life.
I take a risk every time I drive my fuckin car
Hello, Mr. Facepunch.
You're 17, right? Oh, um, sorry, 18. Or 13? No, 20. 24?
Hey, good news: it doesn't matter. It never had and never will.
I heard your IQ is like 140 too. Or maybe 80. Maybe I heard 100. I'm a bit hard of hearing.
How are you doing at school right now? A's? D's?
How's your job? Do you have one?
Oh, but wait: that doesn't matter either. Not the least bit.
What do you do for fun? Draw, code, write, play an instrument?
How good are you at it? I bet you're pretty good. Maybe not though.
How's your social life? Got many friends? Any romantic interests? :D
Whatever the case, it's okay.
Lets say you are some dumb secluded guy with no particular talents who fails at almost everything they try.
I will now say three magical words to turn all of that around.
Are you ready?
Fuck the shit.
You are no longer that guy. "Oh great, it's another one of these guys who thinks they have life all figured out and is going to give me some stupid advice about it that I'm pretty sure will get me nowhere." Nope. See, I haven't told you to do anything yet. You just did this all by yourself. How does it feel? I bet you feel pretty good. But lets not sink back into that hole you just climbed out of. You're on the edge of it right now, holding yourself up by your toes. Step forward a bit. Good.
Here is what you should do:
1. Take 1 risk every day. Do something you've never done before every single day. It doesn't have to be big, it just has to be something.
2. Prioritize things that you need to do over things that you want to do. In the end, this is a lot less stressful. Don't go crazy with it though. Leave yourself at least like...2 hours, let's say, of free time every day to do whatever you want.
3. Every time you find yourself focusing on what's bad about you, remember what's good about you. You're a lot more than you think. If the others' judgement seems to define what you think about yourself, you are not doing this. If you constantly find yourself comparing yourself to others, you are not doing this. Remember what's good about you. Do this.
Give this stuff a legitimate try. Here is where you walk a thin line, and make a big choice. By "choice" I don't mean "the choice to succeed." That's bullshit, if you put it that way. I'm talking about the choice to try those 3 things listed above. 99% of the time, they will help you a ridiculous amount. You won't even believe it.
Enjoy.
I risk too much =p
It's true, and it works.
bro-five for the enlightened, op.
There's no crime if you don't get caught

"Oh, I oughta get caught, because I'm doing something wicked!"
Thanks to people like you, I was convinced that staying in my high paying job will eventually make me into a mindless worker drone. "Life is much more than answering phone calls. Take a risky, active job."
So I quit.
Now I'm unemployed and poor.

Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success.
Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success.
Success is a key to happiness. But being successful isn't the only thing of course.
Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success.
Well it's like a circle. Happiness leads to success, success leads to happiness.
I'll risk and give you a heart.

Every tower falls.
Every river turns to dust.
No matter how many risks you take. Your children's children's children probably won't even know you existed.

Which just means all the more reasons to risks!

If you don't then every risk you take is pure sensory hedonism, narcissistic gratification so you can keep telling yourself that you're awesome just because.
Pausing for a moment and considering actions based entirely on objective means suddenly makes most things not worth the risk or effort any more. But most people will just turn away and decide that ignorance is bliss at that point, and post motivational threads on message boards.
If you really want to take some risks that will change the world. Kill some children, burn a widow's house down. Hurt people. You'll be taking all the risks you want. Infamy has so much more perseverance than fame.
We all have to die some day. Why not deserve it?

I take risks to hope that something good comes out of it, not necessarily to change anything or to gain fame.

So, taking chances for anything else than being rememberd is narcissistic?
I don't necessarily take risks for myself.

This is usually the part where you supply an anecdotal example

Okey, I take a risk to get a better job so that I can earn more money for my family?
I took the risk of a heart attack and went for a jog earlier today with a friend.
I survived.
Well, who doesn't?
I am happy and successful, thanks for asking.
