I'm a Christian myself, and I pretty much hate anyone who forces their beliefs on anyone, or fights for it's cause or whatever. I hate militant theists, like Westboro Church, just as much as I hate militant atheists, like Richard Dawkins. I believe that you are not a better person for believing in a god, or not believing in a god, or believing in the FSM, or whatever. And if you think you are just because you believe in X or Y, you're pretty much trash in my eyes. Religion isn't the problem. Militant religion is the problem.
Believing in things that are not true is the problem. That is my main problem with religion. It's not true.
I don't give a fuck fuck all religion
I have proof.
Give it to me
Believing even personally that someone will go to hell because they don't follow rules set by a being no one is sure exists is wrong
Give it to me
No you aren't worthy because you don't believe in God. When you believe in God I'll show you.
don't tell somebody that their religion is stupid
The creator of the universe send his son, who is also his son, down to one out of billions of billions of planets in one out of billions of billions of galaxies to save the mammals living there from a punishment he himself had condemned them to by killing himself/his son. He then proceeds to call himself benevolent, yet punishes everyone who doesn't think there's enough evidence to support his existence with eternal torture. He's a malevolent dictator who doesn't stop harassing us even when we're dead. Why am I not allowed to say this is stupid?
Believing even personally that someone will go to hell because they don't follow rules set by a being no one is sure exists
What does this sentence mean?
What does this sentence mean?
it means god is an ass hole if he is going to send you to hell for just not thinking like him. which doesnt sound something a god would do but a made up meme
humanity doesnt try to blame its problems on religion, thats only a small percent of people. also I dont think things like trying to stop evolution from being in text books is something i see non religious people do
But not all religious people do that either. Besides, not teaching evolution is not the kind of enormous injustice that others were referring to. They're talking about how religion starts all these wars and stuff, but the fact of the matter is all that stuff would still happen even without religion.
well yes its true that people also have wars over resources, things like the dark ages would not happen if it were not for religion. also not teaching evolution holds back progress which is worst thing you can do to humanity
What progress? Besides, take a look around. Public schools teach evolution. People argued against it, yes, but that hasn't stopped if from happening, so that example really doesn't mean anything.
Religion = war, hate, violence. So I see no point in stopping.
What progress? Besides, take a look around. Public schools teach evolution. Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one, its fine to be proud of it, but please dont whip it out in public and please dont try to shove it down everyones throat :)
Ehhhhhhhhhh
Jeremiah 31:31: “The time is coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.” Jeremiah 31:33: “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord.“I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Hebrews 8:13: In speaking of a new covenant he treats the first as obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Luke 22:20: In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Hebrews 9:15: For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
well they are trying to get it out of text books also my own bio teacher doesnt teach evolution because he doesnt believe in it. oh and there is the earth in the center of the universe thing
There's a difference between trying and succeeding. Who is this they? Just the extremists that are doing these things, right? I don't think he's allowed to do that. I'm sorry, what does that have to do with this? First of all, no one still believes the sun goes around the earth. Second of all, the guy that came up with the idea that it could be the other way around was also christian. What's your point?

come on guys, can you like, hold your panties for 5 seconds the OP asked that you all stop going out of your way to shit on religion, and look what you've all decided to do
Im saying that religion almost always stopped progress and its still doing it to this say
Which is wrong. A portion of extremists try to stop progress and fail is more like it.
Hmm. For all the Christians on this thread, I have a small question. Why do you believe in your religion? Please not the "I have faith" answer. Faith is defined as "a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny". Saying you believe because of faith is just saying "I believe because I strongly believe." I am actually deeply curious as to why you hold these strange beliefs.
I'm a Christian myself, and I pretty much hate anyone who forces their beliefs on anyone, or fights for it's cause or whatever. I remember way back when we had the old custom forums and you discussed and were curious about a lot of things.
Which is wrong. A portion of extremists try to stop progress and fail is more like it.
yea but a lot dont because if they all failed then we would not have 52% if Americans not believing in evolution or stem cell research being attacked
you still have not given proof
I told you, you need to believe in God first.
because, as twisted as this sounds prayer kind of has helped me out, physically, mentally, etc.
Like a crutch?
Like a crutch?
o ya he sud hav used science insted
yea but a lot dont because if they all failed then we would not have 52% if Americans not believing in evolution or stem cell research being attacked
That's not directly because of christianity though. It's because of all the attention the debates between "darwinism" and creationism get. Society has impressed this dichotomy into people's minds that has no basis in fact. The result is 52% not believing in evolution.
Like a crutch?
not a crutch, more a push, something to help you along a tough point i can't really describe it without getting into anecdotes
o ya he sud hav used science insted
I'm not sure what you're rambling about. I'm really curious about this. I'm sorry if I you don't hold the same curiosity as me. [editline]6th November 2010[/editline]
not a crutch, more a push, something to help you along a tough point i can't really describe it without getting into anecdotes
Well a crutch is something that helps you along a tough point of having your leg broken.
