Everyone is free to criticize, as long as you're not like.. shoving criticism into someone's face without them provoking the situation. I've had people approach me over the internet (people, whom I've never talked to, mind you) with messages saying, "Are you Christian?". When I reply "yes", they simply respond with a huge message attempting to disprove what I believe. This has happened about.. 3 times now? Not on Facepunch, per se, but still on the internet. No one should take away anyone's right to criticize, but there's a time and place for it.
All christians should be killed. I am proud that i am a jew and that we killed jesus.
the op is angry that a christian says god is real and then an atheist says he is notor when christians do something stupid on the news and people say how stupid that is
(I'm talking about your arguement with the ducks) Ok, let's take bacteria for example. We've got Cocci, and numerous other kinds of Eubacteria right? Well, we've also got Archaebacteria which looked and seemed a lot like Eubacteria. So we've got two species seemingly similar, but recently, they've turned out not to be. Archaebacteria then can be divided into Thermophiles, and other kinds of species. So your arguement was that a group of animals that acted, and looked like ducks were ducks. But that is sometimes not the case understand?
This is completely irrelevant. Extinct is trying to convince me that the belief of religious people during the Middle Ages WASN'T based on indoctrination and ignorance. It was.
This is completely irrelevant. Extinct is trying to convince me that the belief of religious people during the Middle Ages WASN'T based on indoctrination and ignorance. It was.
I'm just saying your analogy was weak.
The entire point of this thread is stupid actually, from what I understand, it's a Christian telling atheists not that they should stop bashing people for believing in a god, but that they should stop bashing religions. That is ridiculous. Yeah beliefs in god are personal and atheists forcing their views in is hypocritical but if you seriously think that stops us from criticizing the actual religions and the Church and that doing it is somehow wrong you are just fucking stupid and that's all there is to it.
This. If you do not wish for people to laugh at your beliefs, then don't have such funny beliefs.
why not a therapist because you're insane :downs:
I think you're insane for thinking what you do. Doesn't mean that you are. This goes both ways, you know.
IMO vocal atheists who go out of their way to bash anything religious related are just as bad as vocal religious people.
They don't believe in God, and yet must force others to agree and do what they can to rid themselves of any religious exposure. This is, of course, the demographic that proclaims tolerance and simultaneously attempts to silence anyone who disagrees with them.
This thread is silly
This thread is silly
Most threads about religion are.
I'm just saying your analogy was weak.
It wasn't weak. The amount of skeptics during the peak of the middle ages was almost nil (due to indoctrination and ignorance). Generalization can be used in this case.
guys what if god created the big bang
Impossible. You can't have an intelligent being without some sort of matter. And no, NOTHING can defy the laws of physics before they were invented.
Wow, they sound like assholes. Even worse than Facepunch atheists.
I don't remember what site I was on at the time. It was a while back. But I do remember that the community was probably worse than here.
No, I just dislike when people come in and shit on threads that are peaceful.
Last time I checked , having a rant saying "STOP BEING ASSHOLES YOU PRICKS I CAN HAVE MY OWN BELIEFS " isn't peaceful.
Impossible. You can't have an intelligent being without some sort of matter. And no, NOTHING can defy the laws of physics before they were invented.
What put the physical laws in place? They're too structured and logical to be accidental, in my opinion. Not only is there no way to actually change physical reality as is (and thus impossible for the laws to generate themselves through a natural process, which would itself operate on principles in theory), even if this was spawned by random accident, why aren't the laws in a tremendously chaotic arrangement?
God.
That must be a huge dump.

I like to joke about religion with my friend, does this make me bad? Only time I get into it is when another Christian kid that I think is a friend of a friend of mine starts something, so I say something back, so then another friend says something back, then I counter that with something. But despite me not starting anything, somehow it still makes me look like an anti-religious douche.

who the fuck cares, it's ironic because you're even provoking it more since you created this thread
Paleontologists most likely know what they're doing. Also, please don't tell me you're a creationist. That, my friend, would be a justified cause for ridicule.
its all just speculation, i believe paleontologists to a long extent just curiosity , i'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to paleontology
Alright. ATHEISTS: Cool, Don't believe in god, I could care less. THEISTS: Cool, Believe in god, I could care less. "Religion" Isn't pushing us back 100's of years, it's fools who argue about it who do. This includes conflicts between religions AND conflicts between theism/atheism. We are all at fault.

Did I say it was? The conflicts that erupt from both sides push us back. Stop playing the "Innocent" card and blaming it on "Ignorant theists"
Did I say it was? The conflicts that erupt from both sides push us back. Stop playing the "Innocent" card and blaming it on "Ignorant theists"
...How do arguments between theists and atheist push us back......?
How does opposing religions, supporting secularism, and having a negative opinion the Churches push society back centuries.
And even if one side was holding us back, How do you expect the other to convert if nothing but arrogence plagues either?
And even if one side was holding us back, How do you expect the other to convert if nothing but arrogence plagues either?
You can stop trying to come up with a good argument now. You've gotten to the "SHUT UP YOU'RE ALL STUPID" phase.
