if you have to explain it. its not funny.
Yea, but sometimes you get those "Whoosh! over head" moments.
Guys stop, I think he might get God to smite us (User was permabanned for this post ("Permabanned user" - Benji))
It's hard to say we don't exist when we perceive and think as we do.
Or do we really? How can you prove that you actually are what you think (Or lack thereof) you are? I can not get around that particular argument though, for I have not studied this far. But an argument I give to you now is: How would you know that anything, aside from yourself, is real and not just a figment of your imagination. And your brain is not just giving you signals. Or whatever brains may actually do, not what those fake doctors tell you on the TV or in colleges. Because the world does not exist. No one knows. You can go infinitely deep into the realms of understanding this concept and you really would never know, "What is the mechanism behind my thought, are electrons an illusion, protons (Of have you understood the concept and actually seeing "atoms")? is this body that I possess actually made of matter, or could I turn into a puff of nothing."
I am an alt of a permabanned member. But that has nothing to do with any of this. You come into my thread, disrespect me and my beliefs, and expect me to keep calm. Who the fuck are you to judge what I believe in?
he's roo-kie, who the fuck are you
so what if its illogical?so fucking nothing. its an illogical belief. im just here to prove that much. if you accept it as illogical and it helps you sleep at night i do not give a single fuck. but i refuse to let people treat it as if its an idea of merit or logic that has any place in politics, the classroom or science. if it helps you sleep at night thinking that somewhere out there in this great wide everything of ours theres some greater purpose or some cosmic engine pushing things along, then so be it. maybe its wrong, but i think that if youre going to call out people who have nothing left to turn to but religion, maybe because they dont understand science or arent great logicians, whatever, then you should take a step back and ask yourself, "why? what satisfaction am i getting from this?" superiority? maybe, but that won't extend any further than your own head. telling someone theyre wrong isnt going to make them start thinking about you and saying "hmm, maybe hes right", its going to make them start thinking "hmm, maybe hes a douchebag". im not trying to prove to you that god is real, i personally am unsure. what im trying to say is that when someone says "i believe in god" you say "okay."
oy, im gonna go to bed now before i get an ulcer. this is why i hate arguing about this, both sides are wrong and neither wants to admit it.
Hmm, this conversation leads me to deviate once more to another concept that I have been thinking of. Memories. What if your memories were erased and replaced with new ones? You would never notice it either because your memories of what happened at the time of having your memories erased would have been replaced with other memories. So you wouldn't know if your memory is false.

[editline]6th November 2010[/editline]
I think therefore I am. I do not know one person that doesn't know that saying.
i said that earlier. like 30 times. you need, like. 30 clocks. everyone said that already. he's trying to pick it apart.
