Thanks a lot guys, this will help me a boatload. I had planned on basing my civilization off of The Clan of Saar from Twilight Imperium, they live on asteroids and are basically nomads that move around taking a space dock with them so they could build on the go. I was just going to tweak the back story a little bit but after seeing Dmaster with his Necrons, maybe I don't even have to. Though for the ship design, all the pieces in Twilight Imperium look the same so I guess I'll just have to dig around and try my hand at attempting to recreate in pixel form. Also, I'm not too good at drawing so maybe I'll just stick to the computer for now or just try and see how drawing would work out. And the asteroids that I made were one of the first things I've made in MS Paint, I tried to pay special attention to detail with the shading on the asteroids as well. At the point, I'm kinda too scared to try to make a planet in fear of it turning out like crap, lol. Again, thank you guys, I'm just going to keep trying and practicing and it'd be nice to get feedback on everything I do but I wouldn't want to spam up this thread with all of my junk.
Don't worry pal, I started off crap and I've improved a tonne. Heck, I don't even have a sprite-sheet, I just make it up as I go along.
I would also suggest thinking of the "style" of your ships. Per example, I wanted my ships to be stealthy, but with sufficient armor. Therefore, I made it darker and used armor plating on the ship. Also, that looks really good! Doesn't look copied at all :) [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Oh, sorry, didn't notice this page. Nevertheless, that's my take on it.
Pictureless Declare
This is the Leader of Merter sending a message to the Ansalai and Taent Ships in the Merter space region, Please clear the airspace, we need it clear so that we can let a ship dock.
Also guys, I was thinking... How about implementing Bananafoam's system, but with a twist? We could do it just like sins. An example: I can draw a blank example for this when I'm back. It would work like this: Each of those circles is a sector. It would basically work like Bananafoam's system. The sectors are connected. You cant just warp to a sector on the other side of the map, unless it is connected via a line. The map would at first be empty, except for a few connected wormholes and a few asteroids. The current players can then choose their sectors according to how many planets they have. Once the system is full, we can simply create a new solar system. These solar systems would be connected from their suns. This would also be an area where no-one can build. Sorry if this is a bit confusing, but I just got up. I'll be able to draw a few examples later.
Declare.
I thought the whole map was just one Star system. That would be way cooler because we could make the Universe really big (How it is)
The Ansalai move their forces back towards The Habitat.
I would declare right now but I'm feeling particularly lazy at the moment.
Do it. [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Declare [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Undeclare. >.< [editline]18th June 2012[/editline]
Thanks a lot guys, this will help me a boatload. What I did with Terra Minor is picked colors for my oceans/land, and then did a big ocean colored circle with the circle tool. After That I drew the land, and placed the snowy/dark areas in accordance to where it was from the sun I wanted it to orbit. For example, Terra Minor orbits the Star near Kartika, so the light is facing toward it, and the shade is facing away from it. And obviously where there is less light there is less warmth, so I put my face numbing regions of the planet furthest from the sun's shine, with a few snowy areas higher up on the illuminated parts. Oh do you remember TERA, Greg? :3
I thought the whole map was just one Star system. That would be way cooler because we could make the Universe really big (How it is)
Bananafoam's idea was the entire galaxy, with large sectors for one planet, my idea is star systems, with similair sectors, which are connected to each other. I'm not really good with words, so I'm not explaining it very well. If any of you have ever played sins, then you know what I mean. I can make a mockup of what I mean later.
Some random planet is created and joins the war, this planet is called "Garry's Planet"
I sure do! I take it you have plans for them? :P
I sure do! I take it you have plans for them? :P
huh? Are you talking to me?
Was talking to Milkdairy, but you just happened to post just before I did :v:
I do have plans for them in the future, mostly lore based, but the big comeback star will be the ICSU, and their ship technology has vastly improved through the past ages. Most I'll reveal now is TERA is still in a RAGING war with the ICSU. Over time their territory and economical power has grown far more than what they presumably had in their respective thread versions (ICSU, V5 thread. TERA, V6 Thread.) [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Declare Also smugleaf no Offense but your planet is two second shit. I'm gonna size down the text and shade it.

[editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Oh and this will be the last time I get ships in from the milkyway since 1. They get here almost instantly 2. Earth has thousands of ships like these in its disposal (but obviously they cant leave th milky way to get to here.)
Hey, what's up with your amount of ships, milk?
I'm counting Earth as a planet, and I totally phased out the small ships. Also Lugia skipped my declare along time ago, so the ones near my planet were always there.
Garry's Planet sends out three airboats with hover-balls attached to them (I call it the hoverboats) and raises their eight giant physguns NOTE: the physguns are immobile, thus not ships
We should add a rule next version forbidding satirical factions :v:
Well there's already a rule against 2 second shit, we should actually just skip him.
We should add a rule next version forbidding satirical factions :v:
And what, ruin the fun? :v:
Well there's already a rule against 2 second shit, we should actually just skip him.
No, that rule is against THREE second crap, not TWO second crap :v: All jokes aside, it's been improved to JUST pass standards.
All jokes aside, it's been improved to JUST pass standards.
[del]Not really.[/del] I don't mind at all, it's just that some other people might :v:
It does quite ruin the mood a little, but I really don't mind for this thread version. I do however think we should have a strictly serious theme next thread, and lots of lore overhauls and cool stuff. Perhaps make a setting and time frame. I.E. X many years before or after the setting of this thread's events and stuff. Makes it a lot easier to make up lore according to the last thread, and it makes it even easier to update ship designs and other technologies according to the time frame.
Damn there has been allot of posts. declare. The Taent's recover many bodies and some unfamiliar technology, which they give to the Merter Leader before returning to Taendra.

The super weapon hums into position, and with some very unique technology the Cartesians set their plan into play. It fires upon the ship with devestating effect, completely knocking out the engines and shorting out almost all of the electrical equipment on board. The beam sears through the back of the ship and onto a specially built receiver on the shield, which converts the energy into a useful shield - enough to withstand a second attack if need be. The rest of the ships jump into action firing off lasers left right and centre, with the large ship firing two massive matter disruptor beams, tearing apart several important control mainframes.
