The production was bad, because I did all of it at home, by myself. The sound quality of the track really isn't that bad, "for heavy metal"..
Go look up Devin Townsend, He recorded an entire goddamn concept album by himself(Ziltoid The Omniscient) And it is fucking amazing.

I don't think that's an excuse, everyone here does it all at home.

The drums in this album are also computer made, but sound excellent.

I doubt that anyone here does anything.

Oh yes, a section about making music obviously has nobody making music.
I am sorry but that sounded pretty horrible.
Here are the things that I suggest changing:
1.The vocals sound like a joke and are almost completely incomprehensible, not to mention the obvious TtFAF ripoff. Work on your vocals, work on pronunciation and work on vocal melodies. Also your vocals don't sit in the mix at all.
2. Guitar tone. I know that it's not easy to get a good tone at home, but please, at least try. The guitars are so trebbly and muddy that they kind of ruin a lot of the riffs. Try to make them sound less punchy and razory.
3. Composition. I don't really see the point of this song, there are solos (pretty badly played solos, in fact) scattered all around the song, and the poor guitar tone sometimes makes it impossible to tell whether a new part of the song has begun. Revise your structure.
4. Get a drum sequencer like EZ, Superior or ADDrums.
From what I heard and understood of the riffs, they were solid, but nothing more. They were generic and I've heard variatons of them all over the metal world, but that's a decent foundation for the song at least.
bear in mind what people tell you here and just keep on trying. A little more know how and skill will do wonders to your songs.

Oh yes, you'd think, but that's just not the impression I got.

I went and listened to both songs again, and the vocal patterns are different enough for everybody to shut up about the "similarity" being "blatant" or "shameless". If I were going to rip off a song, that wouldn't be it.
The problems with the tone probably have to do with whatever the sound was coming out of, because when the song plays through my iPod, the guitar tone actually sounds pretty good. That's the same tone I normally use at home, and it sounds pretty good, from there.
Most of the solos are fine, I wouldn't say they're all too indicative of my skills as a guitarist, but imagine them on any heavy metal album that already exists, and you'd probably just say that they sound pretty goddamn good, because for the most part, they do.
The riffs aren't "generic", I've listened to a lot of heavy metal albums, and I know about guitar riffs. If they were "boring", or "generic", I'd have never used them. There are 7 or 8 riffs just in that one song, and all of them are quite clearly distinguishable from each other, and also most of the other riffs, "all over the metal world".
Soundcloud is like YouTube. You can watch ten seconds of a video and it still counts as a view.
If someone says it's dull, try to make it more exciting. If someone says it's generic, consider making it more unique. If someone says it has bad singing, try to improve your singing. See what I'm talking about?
If you say, make it more "exciting", or more "unique", but don't offer any kind of way of doing it, you've basically said nothing, except that you don't like it, which generally is a pretty crappy way of saying things.
Jesus fuck, I am not here to make the fucking song for you, I don't need to tell you it is shit and then proceed to tell you how to fix the shit sounding vocals. You need to get in a god damn DIY setting and shit yourself some new god damn vocals before I fucking spit blood all over my

You are obviously a very irreversible asshole who is extremely incongruent with this forum section.
You should just leave because it's people like you who shouldn't even step foot inside.
Shut the door on your way out while I add you to the ignore list since nothing will come out of this.

You'd probaby do well to calm down, a little.
Some of the guitar riffs are really well done but they sound like they were recorded through a walkie talkie and then put through 30 high pass filters, copied onto a cassette tape, then overlayed with the sound of bees buzzing in a tin can

Dude. Are you high or something?
This isn't even close to black metal!

No, I will be as assertive as I possibly can, you cannot tell me what I will likely do.

I didn't. I said, it might be a good idea. You don't have to think so, you still can be as assertive and obnoxious as you want.

I'm listening to it through AD700's and a Xonar Essence STX soundcard :(
Christ, if a person is saying it sound generic take it not back talk them about how much metal you've listened to and how its all different. If they think its generic it's that persons opinion, stop taking it like its the be all and end all. Take the criticisms, sure they may not all be constructive but learn to grow up and just take it.
For example personally I didn't like it, the vocals weren't good and were a little too quiet. But i'm no expert. Just take what the other posters have said even if they have hated it, most of them have given you reasons why they didn't like it, it should drive you to improve next time not go bashing everyone who is trying to help.

I wouldn't bash anyone who was genuinely trying to help me with something. I asked several of them what they meant when they said it was generic, none of them actually gave me an answer.
Is that a question or a statement?
it's a question.
Well it really doesn't look like you can take serious criticism, at all. People are actually trying to help you improve your track but you happen to be so immensely thick and convinced of your own qualities, that there's not much of a point in all this. You shouldn't have posted this here either since it's already 'perfect' and everything.

Nobody's done anything at all in terms of "helping" me with improving my track, and besides, that's not why I put it on here.
I don't know why you'd try and describe me as being "immensely thick", I've done nothing that resembles that kind of behavior.

You've really said nothing worth saying, since I've had this thread up, maybe just go ahead and can it.
