• BP Oil Spill's Genocide of Animals (Sort of Graphic)
And how is animals dying from something we caused less natural than an animal killing another animal or an animal dying from an eruption? It's perfectly natural, we are animals too (superior, yes, but still animals biologically) and we were created by "nature". No actually if anything it's not natural that we care about the other animals dying, it would be way more natural for us to cause one of these spills on purpose to kill other animals, because that's how nature works, no compassion or pity.
Humans are different from animals, we have the ability to feel remorse outside of our own species and can make a decisions in ways animals can't. People feel sad(der) because this was an accident, noone decided that they should just spill a bunch of oil for kicks. However, moping around isn't going to help much either, instead of pointings fingers everyone should have been on this shit instantly. [editline]08:42PM[/editline]
It's not a crime against nature when we swat flies now, is it?
Doesn't compare. At all.
Those images are so damn sad. I'm glad though BP is cracking down heavily on the spill, and has made a great deal of progress cleaning it up and stopping it. I can only pray the ecosystem goes back to normal.
It's not genocide as it's not intentional. But BP knew of the risks involved and it will face the harsh consequences.
You know the best part ? Soon, when the hurricane season will hit, it's humans that you'll see on theses photos !
Lol at all the butthurts of animals dying. When a person dies it's looked upon lightly but if it's animals everyone goes crazy. A person's life is worth much more than a bunch of animals unless that person is no benefit at all to society.
Human deaths are not taken lightly. Worthiness is a human creation. And fucking with nature is never a good idea.
Lol at all the butthurts of animals dying.
This was preventable. Typically, when something happens to the ecosystem relating to the death of hundreds, eventually thousands, of animals; when something happens to the businesses relying on the gulf for a living; when the ecosystem of the Gulf of Mexico is likely to be damaged beyond repair; all a result of something preventable, a normal person would get angry.
When a person dies it's looked upon lightly but if it's animals everyone goes crazy.
woo generalizations
A person's life is worth much more than a bunch of animals unless that person is no benefit at all to society.
Not really. You do realize how many of us there are, right?
Genocide is a stupid word to use, because that implies BP intentionally sought to kill those animals.
This should be one of the poster images for the BP oilspill.

I never really paid attention to the oil spill until about a week ago. I saw the live cam footage and went: :wtc:
Hard to believe that this is actually happening. It's basically up shit creek from here on out, metaphorically and literally.
"Genocide of Animals" Oil spill? An accident? A Genocide? Not the most educated idea ever, to be honest.
The world is slowly turning greyer and greyer as we know it, more cities are being built up and this world destroying natural habitats of animals and killing many of them. Entire rainforests are being cleared in South America. Maybe BP was just trying to be cool and join in on all the action? Seriously though we are going to have to face that the sentient species of Planet Earth want to be the only species, there isn't enough room for all of us so all but one can stay, Humans are here to destroy and kill like we have done in our entire existence. We shouldn't moan about what happened, accidents happen and this one no matter how big it was, it was still an accident. Grey planet is the future, we can't stop it. We ruined our chances of saving Earth when we decided not to mass use Nuclear energy and carry on with oil. All who said no to having nuclear power, this oil spill is your fault.
That video is actually really sad. Have a heart and just kill them..
wtf... how about just cleaning the oil off them instead of killing them.
Genocide is a stupid word to use, because that implies BP intentionally sought to kill those animals.
Yea because they totaly wanted to waste millions in profit and ruin their image to kill a few animals...

Why make a huge deal over what we can't control? This spill couldn't have been avoided, and, as such, oil covered creatures can't either. Yes, it's sad, but unstoppable. What will happen if the oil gets into our drinking water or our washing water? We're concerned about what is unavoidable, not what poses a true threat to our safety. It may already be in some water in Louisiana and Florida, so what about the rest of the Gulf and Atlantic coast? I don't like that the birds and what-have-you are dying, but I'm thinking critically about this.

Oil won't get into our water system because tap water (drinking and washing) does not come from the ocean usually because it's salt water. If it does, It has to go through a desalination plant first which filters out, and adds in things that are way smaller than oil, so don't worry about drinking oil anytime soon. Be concerned about the shrimp and fishing industry, which will be greatly damaged for years to come. You like shrimp? expect a spike in prices. Humpback whales in the area may go extinct, same with whale sharks and other fragile. Animals do more to the human race than just look and act cute. Without them we wouldn't last to long.
I hate the taste of fish, but I fear for the people who survive off it and make a living with it.
When BP mistakes kill animals it seems to get way more attention than BP mistakes killing 11 people.
When BP mistakes kill animals it seems to get way more attention than BP mistakes killing 11 people.
Thing is, industrial "accidents" happen everyday and people will mourn for a day and mve on. very rarely will an industrial "accident" turn in to a multi-billion dollar environmental apocalypse. The southern shores are totally wrecked right now.

I understand the fact that animals do more than just look good, but we don't eat seagulls or dolphins. A lot of the seafood in the world comes from farms, not the ocean. Now, some of it does but not all. The humpback whales, whale sharks, and whatever else there is, don't only live in the Gulf. Plus, we don't hunt them or fish for them. And, the oil sits on top of the water so they aren't in danger unless they surface. I know the whales do, but not really often.
