do these people even have a fucking goal? do they just want to make the evil corporate demon people mad or something.
When the original protest began, I had nothing against it, it had some sort of point and it was stuck to for a short period. Now people are trying to mimic it everywhere, what is it really accomplishing if: Considering the town is full of illegal immigrants and families of them, there's gonna be a lot there most likely protesting something or other. Even a couple of people in my classes are going but have no real idea what they're protesting. Oh look here's an organizer. I'm unsure of what to do. Should I show up and get pictures of any genuine points? I said people in Yuma have no idea what they're talking about. I wasn't talking shit about the protest in general. I don't take pride in being from here, I think we're the dumbest part of Arizona citizenwise.

Yeah, they're gonnna demonstrate here in Copenhagen as well. The complaints are kinda valid in America and other places, since there's not that much control over what the companies can and can't do. It's pointless here in Denmark, though, since we have some of the strictest rules on this. I find it kinda ironic that here in Denmark they're calling themselves "The 99%". That's bullshit, virtually nobody here in Denmark is out of the 10% at worst, and most people would probably be in at least top five. We complain all day here in Denmark, without really having much to complain about. Kinda reminds me of the comedian with the "Everything's fantastic, and nobody's happy".
All i hear from this is "ugh i liked the protest before it was cool" What the fuck is a tiny group of people protesting going to accomplish, it's like you expect shit to get done without it getting bigger and bigger. People aren't happy with the way things are going right now and that's all people need.
Well, at least they have balls to express their opinion - granted they know why they're protesting. They may be small groups, but you can the the movement has garnered worldwide attention from the whole "Occupy" hoo-ha.
Good. The more protests the better.
Not if the protests are pointless.
. We complain all day here in Denmark, without really having much to complain about. Kinda reminds me of the comedian with the "Everything's fantastic, and nobody's happy".
Agreed. Living in Denmark is absolutely fine. People who keep complaining about shit have no idea how good it is here.
do these people even have a fucking goal? do they just want to make the evil corporate demon people mad or something.
This is what I'm wondering. They haven't made it clear what they want to achieve with this, or at least from what I make of it. I don't know, perhaps I am wrong.
Why would you do that?
You protest against something when you don't like it.
Agreed. Living in Denmark is absolutely fine. People who keep complaining about shit have no idea how good it is here.
I'm totally fine with valid demonstrations, and this one coould be too. Problem is, I see a lot of participants are only old enough to be in Gymnasium, and we definitely have nothing to complain about. All the while they're complaining about injustice in the world, they're whining when the government wants to take away SU for people who live at home. It has (rightfully) been monicked "cafepenge" (Cafemoney), as most people don't really need them, and they could be used for better purposes, like supporting them who actually lives in their own apartment. It's ridiculous, and extremely hypocritical.

Also, when you're in 2.-3. g, you don't really have the time to work, so you need some kind of support.

There are some cases where people need it, but for the very largest part, it's tootally unnecessary and it could be used for better things. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm curious on to why you're using a Mac when you supposedly need the SU. Is it required by your study or something like that?

I saved up for it myself, though. No handouts there.
This "Occupy" thing doesn't work

Less than 1/6th of the Earth's population have that choice. [editline]22nd October 2011[/editline]
This "Occupy" thing doesn't work
It's dumb as well, as it pretty much negates all the equality and democracy they want to promote. I'm not a branding expert, but it really seems dumb.
they're doing it in my town too but it's as a joke on the wall street one and nobody gives a damn
I don't know what they are protesting in Denmark, you guys have the best lifestyle in the world. But here in the US the protests are over the Banks/Corporate takeover of the political system that both parties endorse, the Republicans openly, and the Democrats secretly. This is a root of all the major problems in the US right now: Income inequality, Corporate personhood harms individual rights, Jobs are being exported, Banks are being bailed out at taxpayer expense, the foreclosure mess is threatening property rights, the media is not telling the truth because they are pawns of their corporate owners. It is not just a problem in the US of course, Corporatism is rampant in many countries right now.
It's one thing to be upset about protests in your town when in your opinion everything is fine. But for you to say that these protests have no base and are happening for absolutely no reason is retarded and hugely misinformed. There IS a lack of jobs in the US, and in many other places across the world. Income inequality is a HUGE problem worldwide, and it's complete bullshit. There are people who spent decades studying and acquiring numerous PhDs and now they're in the fucking homeless shelter because no one would hire them. It is in no way their fault in the slightest, they've been fucked over by the system. I'm sorry, but if you dimiss the whole movement as a bunch of jobless nobodies and lazy hippies, fuck you.
Sorry, you got it wrong here, I'm simply talking about the word "Occupy" and the feelings it induces when people here. If you cared to read my oother posts, I state that I agree with the demonstrations in the US, but not in Denmark.
