Perth, Australia has a pretty fucking awesome scene considering how dull the rest of it is. Some great acts come from here.
Not a bad list. And there's a pretty popular venue for underground metal bands just down the street from me. I'd say we have a pretty good track record seeing as the rest of the place is so dull.

Um. Didn't notice this post. HQ is what I was talking about, nothing wrong with it, I've been there a few times and I'm not a scene faggot!
Although I will agree, the ridiculous amount of 40-year old men with Disturbed t-shirts is pretty disturbing.
Gotta give the place credit, we've produced some pretty good bands (Well, I just fucking love Karnivool)
[editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
Actually looking back on your post it's pretty ignorant. You should get out more, I don't know what you're talking about. And you can't really call the scene here shit when we have festivals like the Big Day Out and Soundwave.
I've never even been to HQ, all I know is that Stick To Your Guns played there, a pretty cool hardcore band, the rest aren't that good from what I've heard.
Yeah, the music is pretty shit, but really enjoyable to see live. My deathcore-head friend dragged me along to see a bunch of deathcore bands lead by Thy Art is Murder (who are complete shit). Something about a wall of death occuring in a room about 5 metres across was just awesome.
Biloxi, MS is pretty evenly split between rock, dirty south rap, east coast rap, R&B, and heavy metal

there are a lot of dubstep (real, not brostep), electro, and house musicians too but they're not performing artists

Yeah, I went to see Disturbed a few weeks back, and As I Lay Dying where one of the support bands and, I don't really like them, but their were pretty good live.
Faggots who only listen to the hot pop on the top of the Itunes charts

I still think it's pretty impressive that we get concerts of that scale despite being the most isolated large city in the world.
95% Country/Acoustic acts and 5% alternative rock. God does it suck here.
We actually have a Ska/Punk show going on tomorrow.
Tempe?
The scene in my town is pretty much metal, with a few hardcore bands.
here's two examples

Banning CA by the way.
I live outside of Chicago, not too many hipsters, most people just like whatever is topping the charts and shit, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, etc.
Tempe?
What? Panama City? haha
Practically non-existent. The pub down the road (and the one up the road) occasionally have bands on, but I'm pretty sure they're just country music cover bands most of the time.

this is probobly the most popular local band where i live.
i dont think they are very good
The only 'popular' band that a few other towns know is one shitty skinhead band that plays songs by other popular bands and just switches the lyrics into more skinhead'y.
They're ridiculous.
Reading UK, west side is chavs with rap and shit, east side is rockheads/DnB junkies (me) :D
Seattle, WA
Generally grungy rock sounding music
We're the city that Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Alice in Chains and all that came from
The Moldy Peaches, St. Vincent and Hanson come from Tulsa, Oklahoma. That's all I know.
My parents lived in the same neighborhood as the Hanson brothers, so that's kind of cool.
Majority is a combo of pop and rap. Negligible, but nonetheless hazardous amounts of metal/hardcore bands are also about. Then there's some indie/hipster flying around.
Bump, but only to see if anyone has other comments about their town or others.
We just had a big two day festival. Both days started around 12pm and ended around 10:30pm. The 1st day was a lot more popular than the second, but that was because the line up kind of favored the 1st day. There is a show tomorrow night too. So many shows. :v:
Anchorage, Alaska.
"The Underground" at Club Millennium. Sadly not hipster as the title would imply. Just some dumb metal bands.
Be lucky there is a music scene in Alaska. Haha.
Most people here are either a metalhead or stoner or both. I am not either though.
Whatever Seattle's big now with.
progressive dream funk or something?
I didn't even know that existed
Portland, Oregon, USA.

Same story. Our scene is getting more diverse every day though. I heard theres even a math rock-esque band around.
I live in Victoria, B.C Canada, tons of Indie/alt type music, sorta with Victoria's hipster culture
Some of the more famous band that are from here:Nelly Furtado, David Foster, The Moffatts, Frog Eyes, Johnny Vallis, Jets Overhead, Armchair Cynics, Nomeansno, Wolf Parade, The Racoons and Hot Hot Heat.
