It's a fish. Not an elephant.
Just a shity analogy saying this fishes current living conditions are sub par, and judging by the pictures, way under sized. A fish of that size needs room to swim, it's a wonder how this fish had survived this long.
I'm no fish expert, but that might be a cross bread of a gold fish and a catfish.
or you feed he L33T for all 3 meals!

Your fish is clearly the Harbinger of Cthulhu's rise.
The very first fish I bought is still alive. Which was like 10 years ago.
It's a large goldfish indeed, probably turned white because of it being so old. But that size isn't that abnormal. There are a lot of large goldfish. Guiness Book of World Records says the longest goldfish is this beast.
Says its 47.4cm long (18.7 in)

Not white though, so I'm guessing it's just not as old as yours. The discoloring of the goldfish is probably similar as to why humans get grey hair when they get older. The stuff that gives them color just seems to stop working.
Holy christ, that thing is MASSIVE
das wut she said
Some goldfish are just white, they aren't all born orange
Well, actually there supposed to get longer than that I think. Mine grew about 2 feet before we moved. Then they got killed by my cousins Koi.
your fish is the secret to eternal life
it cool and evil and a rapist
fishes name is now Goldicus Fishimus
keeping it in this tank is cruel. Jet because it's lived ther it's whole life don't mean it's happy. That tank is probably disgusting.
I did not know fish knew what was happy was. Also I clean the tank twice a week.
It stares through my soul
At the cheap porn behind you.
I had a plecostomus live for 14 years. He was 2 1/2 feet long when he perished at the hands of a sudden pH level drop.

It's sad because it's a half foot in length in a box a foot in length
It's like keeping a cat in a Shoebox
Your fish is not abnormal, it is a koi. Kois can live to 200 years, but the average lifespan is around 25 years. They are also larger than goldfish.
I thought Koi usually have little barbels on their mouths? I think what he has is a real goldfish. Anyways, I've seen plenty of goldfish grow large and live well beyond 10 years. As has been mentioned already they're hardy creatures if taken care of correctly. But it's always good to see more and more proof of them, nice pictures. That's a tough one, and I think you should give him a new tank as a gift.
Unfortunately half the time Goldfish end up having to be the animal to "teach" kids how to care for pets.
What the mighty fuck? That's amazing!
The average lifespan for a common goldie like yours is actually around 25 years if taken care of correctly. And yours aint that big, there are much bigger ones believe me.
[editline]11:02AM[/editline]
Oh, and you want atleast a 20gallon tank for that poor goldie. Looks like your keeping him in a 4 gallon.
I had two goldfish when I was little, the first one jumped out of it's tank for no reason, the other one jumped out afterwards because it missed the other one.
:ghost: fish
Is it dead?
it was dead. :ghost:
Why that's one giant gold fish O:
I can imagine the OP sleeping one night and then seeing the ghost of a goldfish going "WOOOOOOOOOOOO..."
To me, it looks more like a common carp than a goldfish. Carps are also known to become huge and live for long, sometimes as much as 40 years (if they're not killed beforehand).
The oldest gold fish was 43
