I had portal on the orange box for Xbox 360 back when my PC was so bad that running Half Life 1 was the height of it's performance. After I got a new computer, I shared steam accounts with my stepdad, who had Half Life 2 EP 1 & 2, and bought Team Fortress 2 quickly. Now that portal is free, my orange box experience on the PC is complete.

Yes. You just need to have a game to mount the Source engine from. Although, I'm not sure if mods work on Mac.
while I already have it, it's still useful if you want to gift it to a friend to get them into PC gaming!
