Three non-fatal attacks were recorded in 2009.
Porbeagle sharks are Mackerel Sharks. Saying it's closely related to Great Whites leaves out the fact that it's also closely related to about 3 other genus of sharks other than Carcharodon, which the Great White is the only member of. (with some debate, Megalodons are also classified as Charharodon.)
“You can easily lose an arm or a leg to them. They’d snap it off no *bother and when you are 40 miles away from home you could bleed to death. Bringing her in was my *hairiest *experience.”
A Porbeagle could not take your leg off, in fact sharks rarely ever take limbs off. Porbeagle teeth are engineered to feed on small fish such as Herring, not breaking bones. Porbeagles are one of the sharks with the miss-fortunate looks of a Great White, making it an easy target for tabloids and sensationalist headlines. Infact, I've never heard of an unprovoked Porbeagle shark attack. (a "Provoked" attack is a more scary way of saying self defense, as in the fatass tourist stepped on a sleeping Nurse Shark and got his foot bit in self defense. The news would call that a VICIOUS MAN EATING SHARK ATTACK) They are literally deemed as a harmless fish. If I had a penny for every "VICIOUS MAN EATING SHARK... headline I'd be a sad rich man. It usually comes from the tabloids or unreliable places like The Sun. Just look at that adorable face. How could anyone call that vicious?
