What frustrates me is how a painting is worth about 1 dollar and considered crap until it is discovered that some famous artist such as Michelangelo painted it. Then, all of the sudden, it has deeper meaning and is worth more.

But we spend like, 70 percent of our money in useless things.
Fancy food, big houses, going to the movies, new clothes... Anything that is not required by the organism is (according to you) useless.
If your unrailing and failing train of thought goes like that, you could live with $300 a MONTH. A small apartment, supermarket discount food and a stove would be all you need to actually live.
