You're obviously obvious to the value of art, or have any mental capacity to appreciate it.
Art is expensive for a few reasons, firstly, its the only one of its kind, sure it can be re created but nothing is as valuable and memorable as the original. Secondly, the ideas and concepts behind the artwork is what makes a piece so good. The excuse "my child could paint better than them" is complexity pointless, your child cannot look at it and explain what are the justification for painting it or explaining what some symbols may mean. Thirdly the quality of the painter makes it expensive, Van gogh painting are worth millions now because hes dead and hes so well known, like Monet or Dali.
If you think $300 is alot for a painting, Ive paid ALOT more for art and surprisingly they are a extremely profitable asset,especially when the artist is dead. :)
