Are there secret military operations going on?
Also, this is going to be you the first few months:

And this is only the 'lighter' side of the games they will play with you. Have fun getting ducktaped between 2 mattresses then kicked off the 3rd story.
Yep. Very familiar with that.

Is it true that you get the shit beaten out of you when you get your blood stripe?
Is it true that you get the shit beaten out of you when you get your blood stripe?
Not totally. It's tradition that everyone in the company gets to knee/kick you on each side of the outside thigh. Even by the time 1 platoon is done, you can barely walk. Luckily, I skated out of it, because I got promoted 8 days out from my separation so I kinda just laid low.
All my other buddies though, got the treatment. We all take turns holding the guy down and kicking his legs up. They couldn't walk for over a week, but eventually got better.
Has any non-army person asked you "hay do you get to choose yor own weponz in the army huhuehe? i wanna use an akm and a rpg d00d i'll get so many tacticool nueks with those"
Or just something stupid similar to the above?
Why do Marines who proclaim to be fastidiously straight men do so much borderline gay shit to eachother?
Why the preoccupation with dicks?

It's just a military thing. It is rather unexplainable.

I didn't even realize 'fastidiously' was even a word. I learned something new today. :downs:
We are all secretly gay. It's easier to kill people when your gay. Now you know.

Not to single you out, but man, I never understood this shit, it's like a football team crossed with a frat.

It used to be pretty brutal man..shits really calmed down a bit over the last year.
I saw a video of our old company beating the shit out of the boots...Probably got taken down. Let me try find it.
Edit: Here it is: Buncha drunk fucks beating the shit outta each other. This shit is pretty embarrassing/unprofessional , but once in awhile this happens, especially if your a boot.
I regret reading the youtube comments for that video.

my favorite one: "the jersey shore has invaded the marines too we are* fucked"
The funny thing is that this shit happens, but the next day things are back to normal. Hell, sometimes your even having a beer with the guy that you beat the shit out of yesterday. We used to settle it this way, we had a fight pit in the middle of the barracks. Everytime their was a huge argument, they would settle it in the fight pit. Even take off rank, to show that it's man vs man. Whoever won, would shake the hand of the loser and then drink a beer with him.
Which are the best MREs and why?
I'm considering joining the armed forces as a medical officer after i go to uni. I might not end up joining at all, but i'm trying to decide if i really want to join any particular branch. Any insight from a current armed forces member? I'm opening to pretty much any branch. Keep in mind the Australian's only have Air force, Navy, and the Army.

The ones with poptarts! Why? Dude, it's fucking poptarts!

Cheese Tortellini is pretty good.
I second cheese tortellini, because it also has a ranger bar in it.

Veggie Burger. It's not as bad as everyone thinks.
or even the Chili and beans, just because it has the brownie with it.

That brownie was the best fucking brownie I ever tasted outside of my mom's kitchen.
The Chili left something to be desired though, probably because it was a cold day and I couldn't be assed to use the chemical heater.
I miss when the clam chowder had "shock-o-lots" in them. I loved those chocolate covered coffee beans. But no, they had to switch them out for tropical skittles.
Also, the veggie egg omelet was ok if you put the salsa and a bit of tobasco in it. I'd rather eat that then the maple sausage.

your high, the maple sausage was one of the best. I too also miss the shock-o-lots.
I dunno if any of you guys ate these, but in country they gave us these. They were pretty good, had several different sandwiches. They also had caffeine gum, which was the best to keep you running on post/patrol.

Have you seen the documentary The Invisible War? If so what are your thoughts about it.
I would like to know what rifles you are equipped with and what accessories, if any. Sounds silly, I know, but I find the logistics of the different positions/branches and how they arm them quite interesting.
I've been told that the M16A4 MWS isn't nearly as common as it should be for the Marines, that a lot of the grunts are still using A2's.
Can anyone comment/confirm/deny?
Thanks in advance.
One more thing, my friend has made a 96 (I think? maybe a 98) on the ASVAB, and is going for Nuke in the Navy, and he is totally convinced I can do as good if not better than he did on the ASVAB. Should I take it and just see what becomes of it? I have two chronic illnesses so I'm not sure they would even take me anyway.
