The music in the new Evil Dead is amazing, I really want to get my hands on the score to study it.

Best line of the movie was, "I don't want to be the Devil's bitch."
I absolutely loved this movie. It was definitely different from the original(s), but it stayed true to the spirit of it. It was completely over the top, in the best way possible. If I had to lodge any major complaint, it's that the actors/characters were all a bit unremarkable. Especially David, the "main" character.
That said, I loved it as a whole, both as a standalone horror B-movie, and as a successor/homage to one of my favorite childhood movies. It had a splash of dark humor, a few olympic pools worth of blood, and a bunch of fun and recognizable throwbacks. It was also legitimately creepy/disturbing at time, if only for the Eugh! factor of certain scenes.
[sp]The knife/tongue bit was just wretched![/sp]
I got a bit too joyful at the [sp]"Swallow this, Motherfucker!"[/sp] scene.
I just have this unmovable goofy damn grin on my face while [sp]gallons upon gallons of blood fly everywhere.[/sp]
i think the scene that.made me cringe the hardest was [sp]eric getting stabbed repeatedly in the face with the needle,[/sp]
For me it was [sp]Eric's hand getting broken when it got hit with the crowbar.[/sp]
I jumped like a fucking schoolgirl in my seat when [sp]the door flew open after Mia shot David and then they played the original "One by one we will take you"[/sp]
There was a few instances like that, and that was awesome. I thought the actors did a pretty good job. I didn't like the guy who played David in anything else I've seen him in, but I actually liked him in this.
Also [sp]Necklace on the floor where the chain shaped like a skull was nice too[/sp]
But THAT. FUCKING. AFTER-CREDITS SCENE.
I can't remember the last time I saw something so awesome.
does anyone know when Army OF Darkness 2 is coming out ( or Next Evil Dead Movie ) I like the new main girl who clearly replaced Ash
I liked the way they set up the characters. When you think about it, David was Evil Dead 1 Ash and Mia was Evil Dead 2 ash
[sp]Ash was afraid to do anything in the first one until a lot later in the end, and then at the end the demon gets him anyway, similar to how David was afraid to do anything until later on[/sp]
[sp]Mia was the one who used the chainsaw, lost her arm, and even had that "eat this motherfucker" which was like Ash's "swallow this" in Evil Dead 2[/sp]
I saw Eric as a comic relief character because of all the punishment he got.
literally, every time something bad happened to him, i always laughed at it
on the topic of Army of Darkness 2, I'm guessing they might go the way of the alternate ending?
You mean the ending in the Supermarket? I guess so.

I think he might mean this one.
I thought the Apocalypse ending was the official ending in the UK, if he is from the UK.
The theatrical ending was the supermarket one I think, the director's cut is "IVE SLEPT TOO LONG" (one of the best lines in the film-- totally underrated)
Pretty sure Raimi confirmed that if he does go through with writing he's gonna go with the apocalypse one. That's the one he likes best since the supermarket one was only made because distributors didn't like how bleak the other ending was.

To me, the S-Mart ending felt more in tone with the movie than the Apocalypse ending. The entire movie is slapstick and then the "Well, he's fucked." ending comes out of nowhere.
Yeah I agree, in terms of an actual ending it's my favourite too since it's more comedic, but the apocalypse thing could lead to something totally awesome (but defending the S-Mart could be totally awesome too. But they did a comic on that already)
Plus the S-mart scene gave us:
"Hail to the king, baby."
I felt the apocalypse ending fit more because both Evil Dead films also end with Ash getting fucked over.

In all fairness, the S-Mart ending gave the impression that because Ash screwed the words up again, that Deadites followed him back to the modern time.
Which I actually think was the basis for Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick.

It pretty much was, Raimi helped write fistful of boomstick I think. Infact you do go to an apocalyptic time period later in the game anyways.
Saw this last night, thoroughly enjoyed it, it really felt like the director wanted to keep as close to the original as possible. Only thing I'd pick a bone with, is how the deadites constantly swore. I felt like it cheapened them, it sorta jarred when blood was raining from the sky and she's shouting "MOTHERFUCKER!"
Also, no Shut Up Linda, sad times.
when will we get some new's on these ( most likely ) new Evil Dead's and AOD 2 other than Comic Con anything Sooner.?
This is what I wrote of it on Facebook. I honestly really loved this movie.
Evil Dead: Highly recommend, not really for the squeamish, and pretty faithful to the original with plenty of throwbacks that fans and previous viewers would recognize. Definite 9/10 for what it is. Don't expect it to be humorous like The Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, but it is quirky enough that you definitely get that Evil Dead feel from it. Characters mostly unmemorable but who cares, it's a horror movie- the real stars are the demons and the real focus is on the interaction by characters and the events spiraling downwards. I do recommend!
I understand the criticisms, but I think that you're putting too much thought into a horror movie. Horror movies usually aren't focused on grand plots or in-depth characters, so when it's a cabin in the woods with a bunch of teenagers, then...? I mean, it's a remake/reboot of a low-budget 1980s horror movie. It's going to be somewhat cliched because that's what the cliche is, it started in the 70s and 80s, so yes, it's going to have that.
As far as the characters doing stupid things, this is another thing I don't think I've ever not seen in a horror movie. This is absolutely easily explained by the fact that they do no have the perception that they're in a horror movie. We obviously do. We know bad shit is going to happen. But they don't. We know that there's evil demons. They don't. Yes, the characters made some decisions I wouldn't have in the same situation, but then that's expected. The focus of the horror movie genre is never the character development, or an amazing plot, it's an excuse to get interesting interactions and creatures and shock your senses. I'm more of a psychological horror guy myself, and that jump-scare gore stuff doesn't effect me, but I get a thrill from it. That's what it is, a cheap thrill, and honestly that's faithful to the original as well.
And if you were expecting humor, then you need to refresh your memory on the original Evil Dead, because it wasn't really humorous. I think too many people were expecting a reboot of Evil Dead 2 and were disappointed.
That's one thing why I'm not in a hurry to see this remake. I personally didn't like The Evil Dead as much as the others. It has it's moments but overall it's pretty boring. I love the sequels though.
Wait a minute, I don't ever remember the scene where Mia is singing the whole "We're gonna get you" thing.
Was that just for the trailer?

I guess that was just for the trailer OR in the uncut version.

Probably for the uncut, but I could have sworn that she said that in the movie.

It was only the "You're all going to die tonight" line, and her shouting at not-Linda.
Overall, I really liked it, it was a lot of fun to watch.
I did think that it was too gloomy and atmospheric in the beginning, though. They made a real location, the exterior of the cabin, look like a set. The ultra low budget original did a better job of being natural as the characters were on their way to the cabin. The third act in the remake was very different than that of the original (I have not seen Evil Dead 2, but I'm assuming that the remake's third act was more in the style of the sequel than the style of the original). While I loved the over the top blood and action of this remake's final act, I felt that they could have had made it more surreal, like the original. Things like blood inexplicably coming out of the light sockets, filling up a lightbulb, and dripping onto a film projector was great. Then again, in the remake, they just had it straight up rain blood, that's pretty damn surreal, so I don't know.
Both movies are fun to watch.
Actually, the ending to the remake and Evil Dead II are only slightly similar in concept.
I just got back from the cinema and I loved it. Awesome film.
