Most of these are somewhat hard reads, But they're still pretty good. War history books: The Forgotten 500 With The Old Breed Generation Kill I Flew For The Fuhrer U-Boat War Patrol All Quiet On The Western Front Sci-Fi books: 2001: A Space Oddessy series Isaac Asimov's Robot series The Foundation series Other: Catch-22 The Men Who Stare At Goats (It's not like the movie at all)
also, I recommend The Forever War and Soon I Will Be Invincible for fiction, since Feynman is a comic I have a feeling some literature snob's gonna say nasty words about it :v:
Cell and Ender's Game, as said byt his thread.

Cover leaves a lot to be desired, but it's a good war novel. It's set through the course of a (non-nuclear) World War III with the USSR in the 80's.
dood, just read it. Also Hunger Games while you're at it, I guess.
I dislike fantasy allot. Mostly pure fantasy. I can tolerate some Sword and Sorcery sometimes. Also teenagers saving the world is ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
If your into Star Wars, tales from Jabba's palace by Kevin J Anderson is an amazing book. The Jedi knight series he also writes is good as well. Rouge planet by Gregg Bear is another excellent book.
Well if you're looking for fiction, there's always the Bible.
A very good book. Basically, it's 300-400+ years into the future and after a "Something that happened" ages ago people can only perceive certain colors and society as it is now is dead. Their ability to perceive one color dictates their whole social status and life. It's a good mix of an incompetent government that makes arbitrary rules (no spoons may be produced ever again by edict of Our Munsell) or something like no tractors may be produced, or even the removal of every car in use that isn't a Ford Fiesta (and the ones that do run are 300 year old cobbled together rust piles) with a few Orwellian elements that overall makes you laugh and keeps you engrossed into the story. You really didn't specify what kinds of things you are interested in though, so I don't know if you will enjoy this. Do you like sci-fi? History? Fiction? There are billions of books of all the different genres and you didn't help narrow it down at all. Everyone is going to recommend "Ender's Game" or "1984" but those books aren't for everyone. You really need to state what kinds of things you are interested in, otherwise you will never find a book you would enjoy because you can't find a genre you enjoy.
Sounds a bit like a rip-off of "The Giver" also a great book, btw.
I'm reading the Game of Thrones book at the moment. Just finished the second book, hopefully they don't cut out any good bits when the second season airs in a couple of months. I've enjoyed the books thus far, especially Tyrion and Arya's chapters.
Well if you're looking for fiction, there's always the Bible.
Someone's trying to build a box fort. Don't turn this thread into a religious debate, they never end well. On topic: Funny as shit.
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Sounds a bit like a rip-off of "The Giver" also a great book, btw.
That was my thought too. I read that book years ago, it's good. Granted the whole "dystopian weird future world bad government" genre is so cliched and overdone, and I am so tired of it, and they can't impress or entertain me no more.
Every single George Orwell book.
[editline]10th January 2012[/editline] it's very good
Been a long time since I read it but but I recall it being really good.
(also we kind of already have a thread for books and book recommendations)
This is actually a pretty good book
Ian Rankin books are brilliant if you like crime, I'd recommend Chris Mooney for crime as well. Also Sherlock FUCKING Holmesdo yourself a favour and read every single story. You will never regret it.
Ender's Game was probably the best book report I ever had to do so you may like it. [IMG_thumb]http://www.michaeljohngrist.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/ender.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
not wanting to be 'that guy' that brings this up when ever ender's game is mentioned, but Card's a fucking cunt
Read the Dexter series, especially if you haven't seen the TV series. Maybe watch the pilot, get Michael C Hall's voice and all the character's faces in your head, then read the books.
almost any Terry Pratchet book
Already suggested, but I'll repeat it for emphasis:
Its kinda short and easy to read but I thought it was better than other books.
I don't like how Coelho is always so blatantly symbolic and educating. His books are one big manual how you should live your life. I'd prefer him not assuming his readers are blockheads who only notice screaming symbolism.

The Great Gatsby
