This is a pretty good step-by-step http://www.wikihow.com/Cook-an-Omelette It's not all that difficult to make an omelet, really. Once you get the basics down, you can basically throw in anything and it'll taste good.

My dad makes great omelettes. Cook 'em flat with fried potato chunks dressed in basil and herbs. Delicious with salad cream!
I often make an omelette if I'm hungry. It's easy, and it doesn't require much preperation on forehand. In fact, you can pretty much put anything in one. Personally, I find potatoes and onions to be an alternative. Throw in some cheese and/or sliced pepperoni and you're golden. Enough about me; what do you use in your omelettes? It would be interesting to see your combinations and perhaps even try them out.
Dude, that's not an omelette, that's a spanish tortilla. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] Sorry for the 3 week bump but I've had those all my life
Just out of curiosity, because i saw swebonnys post, how many of you beat your eggs with a fork?
I do, since I can't find my egg beater
I'll use a fork if I can't be arsed to use the beater.
I can use anything! One time I used left over chicken strips and fries from the night before. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!
The key to a good omlette is fresh eggs. She looks a tad traumatised at the previous post however.
Chickens are so cute
You don't cook the shrimp in any way? It sounds very different from any omelette I've ever eaten. maybe i should try it some time.
Well it's cured or whatever they do to it when you buy it in packages. You can sautee it first if you like

Just made one. Used salsa and cheese for the filling. I also added a little garlic powder when I beat the eggs, so it has a slight hint of garlic in each bite.

I just made myself an omelette with bacon, turkey ham, onions, tomato, and some random cheese I found in the fridge. It was tasty.
I usually cook two omelettes with sausages, bacon and bakes beans then sandwhich them between the omelettes in a sandwhich form. Then I died of heart failure.

My favorite type of Omlete that I make contains Fresh chopped Jalapenos, Some onion(not a lot), EGGS, Marble Cheese, pepper, and to finish it off when its done, some Ketchup. It also contains some random spices and herbs that I feel like throwing in.
Usually have my omelets with tomato, cheese, and sausage. I wish I could make omelets at my house but I can't beat eggs and we dont have a whisk
