Communal Communism Thread: Everyone owns this shit
The truth is that capitalism is neither good nor evil, it just is. Capitalism can't get you a job, a bigger house, or a better retirement -- you have to do all of those things for yourself. But what capitalism can do is foster an environment where those with the will to succeed have a better chance of achieving their dreams.
Do hardworking people still fall through the cracks? Absolutely. Are there peaks and valleys as excesses in markets are worked out over time? No doubt. But I defy anyone to show me another system that has done as much to quickly raise the standard of living and quality of life of a country as capitalism has for America.
You can't, because it doesn't exist.

Animal farm wasn't anti-communism, it was anti-corruption, anti-Stalinism.
No, there has never been true communism, only socialism. Socialism is the phase where the goverment owns most buisnesses and money is still used.
wrong, wrong and right, but unless you mean china and russia you're exagerating by a mile.
Denmark is Democratic socialism. and here the only bussines the government runs is the kind that conserns us all. public transport and the healthsystem and schoolsystem. the rest is pretty much left to the citizens.
and we're as Pro-America as a european country can get. which is stupid, but not bad at all. it's just, we're fine as we are now, no more need to kiss america's ass. imo ofcourse

There's Marxist socialism and then there's democratic socialism. There have been totalitarian or authoritarian Marxist socialist states, which is what he was referring to.
Technically, Animal farm was satirical and was poking fun at the English society, it could be interpreted as anti-communist, and/or anti-corruption, even idealistic, due to this.
No one has any fucking idea what communism is. Marx even says that the trade of products and private property are ok. Its the commodification of public goods, things like health care and the environment, as well as the fusion of trade and the state that Marx despises. In fact, he pretty much hates the notion of a state and he has a boner for anarchy (politically, not socially). People need to read the communist manifesto and the supplemental works to truly understand what the hell he's saying.
And to those interpreting Animal Farm as anti-communist, Eric Blair was a communist, and the fat dying pig who issues the revolution but is then misconstrued and misinterpreted is supposed to represent Karl Marx. The author's work outside of Animal Farm and 1984 was essays about how much poverty sucked. Get your facts straight people.

Animal Farm was a satire of the Russian Revolution.

Why the hell did I say English culture? That's seriously what I meant, I'm messed up.
Anyway, yes, it is true that the book is more anti-corruption, it doesn't feature much of what you would think of today as communism in it's writing, however if you look underneath a few of the metaphors, it is there. Interpretations vary greatly on it!
I'm gonna have to reclaim this thread. It is mine after all.

Actually, it's when then the workers own it.

No, that is wrong. Capitalism results in a bigger gap between rich and poor, thus limiting the chances of achieving said dreams for the poor.

don't even bother trying. i've written almost a page worth about this subject, people seem to just skim over it or simply not notice since America is no where to be found in my text.
the notion that america is not the most successful country in the world is too mind blowing for some people to fathom. even the idea that poor people REALLY exist in america is hideous. sure, they "know" and "see" they're there, but appearently the impression it leaves falls short of realizing that america is neither perfect nor a good place for everyone.
no matter how shit their system is, and how well socialist democracies are doing, socialism = communism = satan. at least according to idiots and deliberately self-blinding people.
i'm not gonna repeat myself again. if you have objections like "scandinavia is not perfect" or "you have homeless too" read my former posts and get your answers.

He served in the Spanish Civil War and became disgusted with it.
PS Just call him George Orwell, we don't need to know how clever you are.

Pavlovian McCarthyism is what it is. And it is sad. Oh so sad.
