The Kalashnikov is by no means the most lethal weapon, though perhaps the most prolific firearm design.
Then what is the most lethal? I always thought it was the Kalashnikov (for those that do not know, it's better known as "THE AK 47")
Also, being a Marine is not a terrible thing, from what I've heard from former Marines. It gives you self-confidence. Doesn't mean it's the job for me or you, because I doubt either of us could hack it, but your friend, it might work for. Just make sure he knows EXACTLY what he is doing.

You mean "Every AK variant". It didn't stop with the '47.
There is no MOST LETHAL weapon. You can't be MORE dead than DEAD.

Oh I see. My question was aiming more towards, what weapon can do the most damage (guns).

So far I'd call a nuclear bomb the most lethal, in respect to the number of deaths/the amount of usage.

The only deader you can get is being vaporized.

Depends. From what I've heard, Bushmaster 20mms fuck people up real good. Which the Marines use. On vehicles and shit.
Oh I see. My question was aiming more towards, what weapon can do the most damage (guns).
Depends on what you mean by "damage". Do you mean how effective a bullet is at penetrating armor or solid objects? How fast the bullet travels? The calibre?
Oh, I'm sorry. You said Army, and I thought "Marines". Shit, dawg, Marines are where it's at, brah.

All the above combined to an overall weapon, yes.
Not everyone who joins the army does so to "serve their country"
Their are many jobs in the army that one is quite capable of enjoying and getting fulfillment from.
Not to mention the extensive job benefits.
Maybe he wants to do something with his life instead of sitting behind a desk on a computer.

Any gun that can successfully penetrate a human skull.
Howdy folks, long time lurker here on Facepunch Studios.
I met a friend of mine on a night out recently and it turns out he just graduated with a law degree and now wants to join the army! I was like "what the fuck? - you spent 4 years paying college fees, accommodation and studied your balls off and for what?".
Is it just me or does he come across as a bit crazy?
P/s: I didn't say this to the guys face, I obviously wished him the best of luck.
What would you rather?

the army is a good way to continue your study (here it is anyway) and earn some pocket money.

If you want to get shot at yeah.
You do realize you stretched the page a lot and didn't say much, right?
You should have called him an idiot to his face.
Idiots are too stupid to realize they're being idiots so you have to tell them.
This is probably his only chance to serve, I think it's a dumb idea too but it is his choice.
Someone educated wants to support their country!
Obviously fucked in the head, report him to the nearest mental institute.

Who cares?
Maybe he wants some excitement or to serve his country.
You should be calling him brave, not stupid.

Support him, it isn't like the army is a terrible thing to join.
Wow... It's amazing how different the culture is in the USA compared to here. If someone did this here, he'd be getting a lot of shit.
Personally I agree with you, OP. I think it was stupid to waste money(that probably wasn't even his) to get a law degree and then ignore all the hard work and just go join the army instead.
However, it is his choice and no matter how stupid a choice you think it is, it is not your decision to make.

Not a whole much you can with your life when your legs get blown off by an IED.

Who says he's joining the army for life? He could get another job with his degree afterwards.
Not a whole much you can with your life when your legs get blown off by an IED.
You can sit at a desk for the rest of your life.
Let him follow his dreams.

I think the OP knows what his friend wants a little better than his friend does.

Hate to break tears folks,
This is a troll thread. In order to become a lawyer you must spend eight years to get two degrees.

Uhh, you're lying.
Law degrees are not 4 year degrees.
First you need a typical 4-year degree like Political Science, Philosophy or English. THEN you go for another 3-4 years for a Juris Doctorate. Additionally it would seem unwise for someone to pay for a degree and THEN enlist given the military has programs in which THEY will pay for your degree and then you owe them X number of years service. I personally considered that route until I realized I am really really bad at doing what people tell me to do.

Seven or eight depending on which classes you take and whether or not you get credit for an internship.
he'll become a lieutenant and prove you wrong YOU JUST WATCH
With that law degree he would become an officer, probably a Judge Advocate General (JAG). What is so bad about that?
