Commercially terrible, that is! Sorry, should've pointed that out since it's a good album like you say. =)
Correct, you use the right words. :v: [editline]24th October 2011[/editline]
I personally think that Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy is severely underrated,
Correct, it's a good album.
Same genres, bro. There's your answer. :-) [editline]23rd October 2011[/editline] Straight away, you look at that cover and think "WHAT THE HELL". It's actually a good album.
speaking of the Stones, everyone seems to hate it but they never give a reason other than it being a Sergeant Pepper rip-off, which I completely disagree with
Lil B cleared up any misunderstanding before the release saying that he was supporting the LGBT community.
Nah I doubt it. He knew he was gonna cause some trouble.
To be fair though, when he divorced, he got a deal ; He could make an album, and have ALL the profits given to his divorced wife, so he took that deal and made a terrible album just to give her the long finger and laugh all the way to the bank as he cashed in on his other albums. He made a great job on the album, that's for sure, but he also made sure it wouldn't be as commercialy viable that his previous albums had been, just to be sure that his wife got fucked over. =) I personally think that Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy is severely underrated, people love to bash on Axl, but some of the most heartfelt and emotional songs can be found on Chinese Democracy. "This I love", "Street of Dreams" and "Catcher In The Rhye" are some of the finest songs I've heard, and I firmly believe that Chinese Democracy is a testament to not only Axls genious, but also how he tried to cope with going from being a abused teenager, to the frontman of the greatest band of the late 80's/early 90's, to his fall and rise again. It's just filled to the brim with him trying to deal with it all, and "This I love" has one of the most beatiful solos I've ever heard. It's not the old Guns N Roses, but everything changes, and while I miss the old Guns N Roses, it was just never meant to last. Hell, people complain that new GnR sounds so industrial, but I'm almost 100% certain that people would still bash him even if he had made something that would sound like a carbon copy of the old GnR too.
Axl's good at what he does, he just needs to be punched in the face. Not even in public necessarily (though that would be preferred so I know it happened).
i still haven't listened to an actual lil b album, just lots of singles. they're amazing though. just listened to I'm Gay. I don't even know WHAT the fuck is going on .jpg those beats are beautiful and I don't even know if he's serious or not anymore

If you heard his debut, you'd be saying he was the next Michael Jackson. It was fresh sounding and although made in the 80s, it still stood the test of time. This record however, is a lot more personal and a lot less accessible. I first heard this on LP because I grabbed it for cheap. I had the debut but only gave a few songs a listen at the time, it was good but didn't strike me as something addictive. But his followup, was absolutely breathtaking. It has elements of drone, elements of psychedelic soul and newage. It also includes some jazz styles and funk that are relateable to Prince. The one thing that strikes me about this album, is how vocal and experimental it is. Every time I hear it, it's like breathing fresh air. It failed compared to his debut and destroyed his pop career forever. It'll be one of my favourite 80s records though.

You see, people dismissed it as a "lousy" attempt at a pop album because he can't sing. But he already made a name for himself in hip hop, so by discovering something new with this tool, he tried something that nobody else did. He took a risk, and nobody cared.
[img_thumb]http://hwy74.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/yes-relayer-frontal.jpg[/img_thumb] It's pretty inaccessible even for Yes fans, and widely regarded as their weakest, but the more you listen to it the more amazing it gets.

It's fucking incredible and it's like an epic journey.

[editline]21st November 2011[/editline] however, I don't think people hated it. The album people hated was Tales of Topographic Oceans. This dragged, but it drags in all the good places. Plenty to enjoy here even if it's way too long for its own good.

Can't answer this thread, because I don't give a shit what the public thinks.

A lot of people don't realize this was the best political rap album of the year.
Although it's in another world from Pet Sounds, I still think it's a highly listenable and enjoyable record. Albeit, not as "pure" as the new version of Smile. But this is still pretty nice.
Smiley Smile is my favorite Beach Boys album

Radiohead fans act like its terrible, but if you look at it separately from their other albums its pretty darn good in my opinion.

It's a great album and DOES NOT require solos. [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] On another note, Ak'z, I just realized that your avatar for all this time has been Marvin Gaye. Shit, I'm late.

It would have been really cool otherwise
It could have had avant-garde potential, I guess. But the thing you'd be forgetting is that it's METALLICA. Metallica, a band that thrives on being generic, but more importantly, is appreciated for it. People who listen to Metallica (well, a very large majority of avid Metallica fans) do not listen to such otherworldly music. What's more, Metallica are not very good at it. If any other band but Metallica made Lulu I'm sure that it would have had better reception. Like it or not, context can be an important factor in the quality of a piece of artwork. [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] Bear with me, I mean that this album is misunderstood in the sense that a lot of people write off Lamb of God as being incredibly generic and uninspired. I would largely agree, with the definite exception of this album. It's their only work that actually comes off as both a professional display of instrumentation and legitimate, believable musicality. I have to say this, Eleventh Hour is the best straight-up metal song I have ever heard. It elevates itself beyond the mediocre landscape that is modern metal and defines itself as a proper song instead of a bunch of guys throwing their instruments around, something that unfortunately applies to 95% of metal both known and unknown. The lyricality here is also something to be commended, it is, along with several others on the album, one of the few metal songs in existence where the lyrics are both meaningful and presented in such a way that you can actually take them seriously. For Your Malice comes off second best, more of a poem than a structured song (lyrically), while still somehow managing proper metal instrumentation. I'm not suggesting that this is a hidden gem of an album among a sea of boring bands with similar images to LoG, but it is certainly a lot better than most modern straight-up metal, and I believe it deserves a lot more credit than it gets. Most LoG hate is justified but I ask that you hear this before totally writing them off, it is unfortunate that their rest of the catalogue does not match the complexity or legitimacy held by As the Palaces Burn. [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] Blame the production on Devin Townsend! I think it improves its raw vibe.
I was waiting for somebody to post Lulu haha. Not as bad as people say.
With regards to Pablo Honey, those who disagree ought to check out some of the live shows where radiohead play the album. It might sway you to like it. Check out 4:27 - you'll never get Yorke to hit that note these days.
I've listened to Pablo Honey a few times, but it really doesn't compare to the rest of Radiohead's stuff. Most of the songs are pretty cliché, nothing too new or interesting. I didn't like Thom's vocals on the album either.
